HI all, just dropped in here, early. I'm on dialup at home, so hard for me to keep up with this thread! Some comments on my choice of LP?

In the early 50's, I was conceived to the music of Les Paul and Mary Ford (I still have some of the 45's). I grew up listening to LP and Mary Ford.

In the 60's, I took piano lessons, wished I could play guitar (that Beatles thing, and all of that).

In the 70's, I was playing a Farfisa organ in teenage garage bands, and was around real Les Paul guitars for the first time. The Strat guys and the LP guys would argue back and forth which was better, but I liked LPs.

In the 80's, I had been doing home recording for a while, been playing keyboards for a long time by then. I could play guitar, I wanted a Gibson Les Paul, dammit. Got my first one, a 1981 LP Deluxe, tobacco burst, from an original owner that never learned to tune it. I stole it, I mean I bought it for USD $250 with Gibson hardshell case.

In the 90's I was playing hard, just in weekend bar bands. I was 80% a keyboard player, but was always proud to play my LP.

In the new millennium and since, I have gotten a couple more. One a nice white/gold '91 Gibson Studio, the other is a strange unique 1974 Japanese lawsuit import. The lawsuit LP has been upgraded with all Gibson guts. It's a very nice guitar, in some ways better than a Gibson, but it's not a Gibson.

Now? I'm an old guy, still play keyboards in weekend bands and blues jams. I've got several keyboards and several other guitars, but I still love Gibson Les Pauls. Here's some examples.
