I rinse out new bottles. Or, at least when I remember to, before I start dumping stuff in them. For used bottles, I soak in diluted white vinegar for 24 hours, and then rinse.
I think I must really be the odd one! I didn't even think about rinsing them or anything. I added my nic juice to the bottles and put them in the freezer. Oops! Not sure why I didn't think of it. I always wash new dishes ect.... Did I just do a major no no?
Don't confuse sanitizing and sterilizing. Sterilizing happens at 250+ degrees. If anyone is that worried about it, 1 hr in a pressure cooker @ 15 psi will sterilize, ... and melt/deform certain plastics. Unless you are selling to the public, sanitizing / dw / hot soapy water is adequate. I'm also guilty of not washing new bottles. Oops.
Thank you everyone for your responses. I decided on letting them sit in hot, soapy water for a while, then rinsing multiple times. I'll definitely try soaking in vinegar & water for used bottles when I get ready to wash them.
A little side note unrelated.. about instructions.
A friend was doing a team building thing. they were told that each team had to write exact instructions on how to make a PB&J sandwich. Then they switched instructions with other teams & were told to follow the written instruction exactly how it was written.
first mistake most people made were not including instructions on,
1. open bread bag
2. take 2 slices of bread out & place on plate
so most just put PB&J on the bread - On the outside of the bag itself.
