Adam-

Thanks for the piece. It does confuse "the smoking of tobacco," "uses of the tobacco plant," and "uses of nicotine." In talking about the e-cig, we have to now be very clear about these dinstinctions. I have found it useful to insist that the issue is combustion, and people seem to get that. I use (Joel Nitzkin's?) example of the difference between drinking brewed tea for caffeine and burning it and inhaling the smoke.

No problem Wally. I'm glad you took a look. It does confuse the uses a little. Did you see the link to the nicotine water? I though nicotine water was banned or shut down? What's your take?

My little rant,,,,

It seems that true reporting is disappearing. As magazines and newspapers lose thier revenue streams, it seems more and more articles are written to support funded agendas,,, making them more propaganda machines than anything else.

There is a definate anti-tobacco industry, and they are being funded by money from smokers. I have to take my hat off to those anti's,,, it was pretty clever to make addicts pay for progaganda campaign against themselves. Hitler collected royalties on stamps issued by the German government for using his image.

The conclusion at the end, that the public will eventually accept nicotine is some consolation. Tobacco Road has a bridge out right now, and anyone trying to build it, is being stopped.

I had also heard that FDA pulled "nico water." It's a slow delivery system and probably wouldn't have nearly the following of inhalable nicotine. That is the crux of the e-cig, that it allows inhalation. On the general issue of FDA regulating nicotine, I don't know what to think. I have a feeling that if it weren't long associated with a harmful delivery system, tobacco, they probably wouldn't be paying attention to it. But it's definitely on their radar now. Incidentally, if I didn't clearly thank you for the link, thank you.
