I thought about it... I have a shark steam system that is in storage in another state.... I would like to know if that works good without hurting the atty. I have resorted to no cleaning at all and my atties are still going strong since I started. I think that the soak is what kills. I don't think that steam would do what soaking potential does to shorten the life of the atty.

If you try this.. please report how well it works and let us know.
Thanks,
Tom

I have a steam cleaner (from some department store I can't remember) that has several different tips included. It is the Conair model:SC10
I'm going to have to try that out this weekend.
I have been on the same 510 attys for over 2 months now. But I can't say that I have never cleaned them. I use mostly dark brown (coffee flavored) juice, so I have soaked them in hot water a couple of times. Mostly I just blow them out on occassion and that's it.

Oooo...I never thought of this. There are some pretty small steam cleaning units one can buy - like this one for $34 dollars. I bet it would work really well. :) Might have to try it. :p

That solves my problem! Well, now we just have to figure out if it works. I'm too broke to guinea pig it or I would. =[

The attys came out sparkling clean in a matter of seconds. I did have to use a pair of pliers to hold them, of course. The little fiberglass fibers are almost totally white again. (They were badly stained brown from my coffee juice) I had to wait 'til they were dry to see if they still worked. All seems well with them.
This seems like a great way to clean them if you have a steamer already, but I personally wouldn't buy one just to clean them. Soaking in a cup of hot water for a while would do almost as good a job as this did.

what happens if the atty isn't 100% dry, and you use it? will anything bad happen if a damp atty is used?

It won't vape. The amount of heat generated by the atty will not overcome the water since water boils at a higher temp then the stuff we vape. The atty needs to be dry for it to work proeperly.
