Hi, everyone,
I'm a newbie here. I quit smoking 6 years ago after almost 40 years of smoking. About 3-4 times a year I would get an intense urge to smoke, and fight it. I loved to walk by smokers just get that wonderful smell. About 2 months ago my neighbor came over with an e-cig. I was just having one of those urges. Within an hour I was in the store buying the whole set up. I wish I had known the juice could come without nicotine, but ah well. I've been vaping ever since and really enjoying it. I figure at least I won't go back to smoking. I want to thank you all for such an education. I really like reading these posts. Again thank you for all this wonderful information.

I tried many times and wanted to walk by those same people. Its just a warning that I am in dangerous waters.

I have no such interest anymore. These people here gave me hope not to have that desire. I use the tools that I learn here to have a satisfying alternative. Whenever I feel the urge, I have my vaporizer. AND, I do it sometimes for just the enjoyment. I have two tanks with 6mg of nicotine and two very good flavors, I can do that all evening. Hopefully, I will take my nicotine levels lower, but today is the first day of my future healthy life.

I know where you are coming from, Robdob. I had quit for 4years, and knew if I ever lit another one, I would throw those 4 years away. I found out I was right. :(

I bought my setup a month ago and haven't smoked since. I wish this kind of gear had been around when I started the second time- I probably wouldn't have if I could have vamped instead.

Congratulations on staying strong and finding a smart way to satisfy your urge to smoke.

Welcome to ECF !

I'll echo the congrats on finding something to make it through the urges. Vaping can be a sufficient substitute and from what I have heard, after either quitting analogs completely with or without vaping, cigarettes taste horrible. I had a friend who started vaping and after about a month lit up an analog, took 3 puffs and he put it out saying it tasted like sh**.

You can make it...you really can. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Keep the vape and namaste.

I still have a few analogues a day, but Im getting there. Sometimes when I go to light a cig I will immediately put it out cause it isnt half as enjoyable as a good vape.

Not everybody quits smoking right away. I took about six weeks myself. Long as the "trend" was away from smoking, I was happy.

But now? It's been ten months I haven't had any interest in cigs and don't get what I must have thought was so great about them. I hit my first smoke free year this April.

Heh, yeah. I was "dual use" for around six weeks. Every week, smoked fewer. At some point, I actually dreaded giving in to that nagging, lingering urge to "have a real one". They tasted awful. Then started giving me mild headaches and a bit of nausea. Somewhere in there, the one pack in the house ran out and I didn't care anymore. The things had become just vile and I just couldn't stand them anymore.
