AFAIK it is not "beta". Wiki say "Alumide is a material used in 3D printing consisting of nylon filled with aluminum dust, its name being a combination of the words aluminum and polyamide. Models are printed by sintering a tray of powder, layer by layer.[1] While it is much stiffer than other materials used in 3D printing, it can also withstand much higher thermal loads, maintaining its shape at temperatures that would cause thermoplastic compounds such as polylactic acid to become molten.[2]".

No I meant Gdeal labeled it "Beta" (when you click on it, it's in the title). I've had multiple people tell me that they love their Alumide printed mods (you being one of them), but "The Designer" (insert holy choirs of angles singing AhhhhaahhhhAahhhh) labeled it as such and I am a closet worrier.... and I think/type/talk too much.....so you add the two things together and you get posts like these.... and the one before it.

Ken, I marked the model as beta because I dont know if they will print it due to how the parts are set up. Remember, they will not print multiple parts in Alumide. So I basically made it "one" part. There are little sprues in there connecting part and the larger parts have a loop piece acting like a key chain. This may satisfy them but I have no idea. This was one of my emails to them asking for clarification. So for now it marked "beta", until they respond.

On sculpeto does the frame assembly for alumide include all printed parts except for the body,(outer shell)?
I'd like to use plastic for the internals and alumide for the body, has anyone done it that way before? Any recommendations for that idea?
No that's wrong. Sorry gotta run, can someone please give me a hand with this.

That is what I got from Shapeways...no problems with them

The internal assembly models (both Alumide and Plastic) contains all internal parts for either a ball tact switch or alps tact switch. You will also need to select a button, a body, a top cap and a ring.

Interesting. I have all the parts for one DNA and one Mech (white polished all parts) from Shapeways in my cart and it is $158.29 with UPS shipping to be in on Nov 5. I just ordered all the same parts, same finish, same shipping for $158.34 to arrive on Oct 28. So same price just faster.

Sculpteo is more expensive for individual parts that are small. The ring, button, etc. They have this weird minimum cost threshold on models. On Sculpteo, the full group parts models, (ie the whole mod) is ~20% less. The full internal assembly is also ~20%. Thats why I grouped up all the full models there.

So if you get the same color plastic for all parts you can save, If you mix and match colors it pretty much balances out.

I ordered the grouped parts from Sculpteo. Dunno. Same price for me for some reason.

Sculteo $72
Shapeways $84; 15% more

WSF Polished
Sculpteo $80
Shapeways $90; 12% more

If you compare the 4 button model with parts selected separately at Shapeways:

WSF

Shapeways $94; 20% more

WSD Polished
Sculpteo $90
Shapeways $102; 13% more

If you compare all Alumide parts selected separately with a WSF Internal:
