With the new dna 40 if you remove the whole fire switch you will need a jumper

DNA30 or DNA40? On the 30, you can remove the switch and be done. On the 40, the switch also acts as a jumper and you'd have to resolder some tiny wires in its place, so it's better to gut the switch, which is actually easier and less risky to the board.
The switch does not need to be removed for clearance per se, it needs to be removed (or gutted) to prevent unintended firing when squonking hard.

If I were to just leave it on there, it would work fine with the remote fire button also installed correct? But it's that close to the bottle that if may fire it accidentally?

I just used a safety pin to free it from the clips and magnifiers so I could see what I was doing. You can leave it on and still use a "remote" tact switch. But as Rossum posted, the wall of the juice bottle will rest against it and may cause the on-board tact to fire with an aggressive squonk. So the recommendation for this mod is to remove it.
DNA40 Fire Button Mod - Cover Removal
It seems to me that a small piece of flat toothpick lightly tacked to the metal surface either side of the button would keep the button from being depressed.
I use a very exotic tool to remove the fire button cover...........
