Whoa....that Ring is waaaay off.
Shapeway's should replace your parts that dont meet spec. Email customer service, I would send them a picture of each issue, use calipers to show dimensions if helpful.
1) The ring - Ask for them to compare to the print file spec....no discussion needed...they are idiots.
2) The broken leg - tell them it broke in shipping
3) Inconsistent Color and surface. Just show them the issue and ask for a replacement.
The spacing between top and bottom cap is normal, On the ring there is a lip that fits the space. The lip on the ring is spec'd to 1mm, the space between body parts, may be different b/c of printing tolerances and or your assembly technique. There is enough surface area on the face of the main internal to sand down to get a custom fit.
Let me know how you do....I may need to have a discussion with them on moving my files to another 3D print service.
