Whoa....that Ring is waaaay off.

Shapeway's should replace your parts that dont meet spec. Email customer service, I would send them a picture of each issue, use calipers to show dimensions if helpful.

1) The ring - Ask for them to compare to the print file spec....no discussion needed...they are idiots.
2) The broken leg - tell them it broke in shipping
3) Inconsistent Color and surface. Just show them the issue and ask for a replacement.

The spacing between top and bottom cap is normal, On the ring there is a lip that fits the space. The lip on the ring is spec'd to 1mm, the space between body parts, may be different b/c of printing tolerances and or your assembly technique. There is enough surface area on the face of the main internal to sand down to get a custom fit.

Let me know how you do....I may need to have a discussion with them on moving my files to another 3D print service.

The ring is the exact part number on my shipment receipt, and on Gdeals ShapeWays page..... Part number is correct, just printed smaller.

The above pic has the internals installed, just not the electronic parts.... As it is, it rocks like a see-saw. Might not rock with the electronic parts installed..... Will have to see when I receive the parts to put it together.

Once the connectors are installed and the magnets, it will be stable. It rocks because there is nothing supporting the external shell parts. And when you get properly printed ring it will be solid.

I don't think I'd order colored parts again. The black was good. The blue wasn't. Metallic plastic seems to look and feel best so far.

Ok guys got a shipment notice from shapeways, they are sending them ups. Took only 5 days between order and shipping. But i did order body and cap polished white, ring button and internals WSF.

You should be able to mod that switch into the current design.

I think SW should be ashamed of themselves for allowing something in this condition to leave their shop. The color mismatch is significant, and those lines down the side are a clear defect.

If there was a slight 'step' on the deck of the top body, that would raise the button slightly, and a couple of other small changes it might work. I like the button as is, but anything could be modded ;-)

I used a bronzed doorbell I found on Ebay as a fire button on a mod, I found I could shave off a lot of the depth of the button. Depending on where the leads are on the undercarriage of that switch, you might be able to remove part of it so it can fit into the current design.

Painted the top cap tonight. This one is Titanium. I like the two together, but since I changed the colors up from what I had originally planned, I might need to get a different ring now. Maybe a plastic one or polished nickel?
