Gdeal - any chance you've checked with shapeways to see how many units have been ordered? I'm wondering if this mod is taking the world by storm.

Well if you are not on ECF, you probably dont really know about it...I dont really post anywhere else. So its more like a sunshower than a storm. Most of my info comes from people posting up their mods and talking about it here.

I dont count units, I'd rather have people who do get it, make sure its working right and are enjoying it. The mod is on the more advanced side of things, its much more complex than non-bottom feeder dna mods. But the people that nail it seem to be really liking it. And I dont mind helping people out, so thats where I focus.

I received the "Updated" shell today. Shapeways is back in action!

This is in an unpolished WSF version and I took the Shell straight from the package... I used the same internals from my Black Painted Mod to get the best comparison for the change. Looks like we have much better button clearance. :)

Gdeal.....I gotta say...Awesome mod! This is my first bottom feeder and went into it a bit apprehensive (more like talked into by Kata). But damn glad to say I built it as bottom feeding is now my favorite. Sorry, don't have a better picture for now, but it looks good in reality (to me anyway).

Awesome J! That's quite a line up. Glad my design is hanging with the best of them. :)

Well, I got the printed parts today:) and emailed them today  IMG_20141009_174402.jpg IMG_20141009_173908.jpg IMG_20141009_173920.jpg This last one I mentioned , but IDK.. I could sand it out or just have then reprint? IMG_20141009_174424.jpg
The way the parts are bent.... are these warm when they are done being printed? looks almost like someone didn't position them right for cooling and let them rest on the tabs.

I was thinking as much for the internal parts. I could probably have filled and sanded the top cap, if I wasn't going to just clear coat it.... but if you think I can salvage it somehow I'd be willing to try (save some time on that parts reprint). I think I might have to sand the spacer ring down a little. It shouldn't be a super tight fit, right, just kind of sit on top?
All in all, I do like the look of the metallic print.:) and it made me pause when I first opened the box.... I knew it was small, but didn't realize how small it really is for everything going on inside of it. You really did make the most out of every speck of available space inside that body, it's very compact. Very nice job designing this gdeal :toast:

True, I can agree with that. I am more than a little surprised they put it in a plastic bag looking like this though. I can see over looking the top cap, but the internals?
I don't know why this happens, but whenever I post a picture on here, it shrinks it down to less than half the size it is on my pc. I see pictures others take that fill the post and mine are....tiny

Ok...if you havent seen it yet. PBusardo broke the news on the new DNA40 chip with temp protection. I was in the beta group and it is a complete game changer for squonking.

MikeP wrote a great post over in his co-op thread. Check it out for more info.....Its that good. :)

And while I am linking posts...I created a thread almost two years ago looking for something just like this.

Thank you Evolv!

I knew this was coming and have been patiently waiting. The DNA40 is exactly what I have been needing in my life.

The real question is, will it fit in the printed bottom feeder as it is right now? ?

I know the new board will be hard to get for some time likely, but it would be nice to be able to just take the old one out and solder the new one in once I get it.

Same foootprint, however the wire going to your up/down switches might 2-3mm too short as the solder pads for these switches has moved to the top of the board.

Easy enough to solder longer wires at the same time.
I heard him say in the video the new board would have the same dimensions. I was just unclear if any new components had been added to the board(or old components moved around) that would prevent it from fitting in our internals properly.

I am so excited and wish I could buy this new board right now. Temp control is going to change EVERYTHING!

Now we have the potential to use the same cotton wick indefinitely once you set the temp correctly(I could see getting months out of the same wick at least)

This is the only board for the people that truly care about their health.
No more worrying about potentially inhaling hazardous byproducts due to extreme temps,
no more fear of the inevitable "dry hit",
and no more fear of accidentally burning your wick the one time you forgot to bring spare cotton with you lol.
