Private V2 Clone - Warning/Fix

I'm sure anyone who owns a private V2 clone knows about the issue with the fire button coming loose/falling out. Little did I know that it could fire the atomizer in the locked position in my pocket when this happens... I noticed a burning feeling in my leg and instantly pulled it out of my pocket and dropped it into a sink. The locking switch was in the locked position and I hadn't even used the mod in a few hours. This could've easily started a fire in my pocket due to the cotton wick, so I'm just glad I noticed it before that happened.

Now, I'm sure I'll hear "that's what you get for buying a clone", etc., but I just wanted to post this so that other people can proactively fix the problem before it becomes an issue. I completely understand that all batteries/mods have some inherent danger, but I just didn't picture this happening. My fix was loc-titing the fire button into the battery contact. I can never pull apart the switch again, but you really shouldn't need to.

Here is a picture of everything after it had cooled down enough to touch:

You can see that the cotton is completely singed and could've very well caught fire.

Spring damage? How does the battery look?

Is there any other way to carry a mech not in a pocket

The spring seems fine, it is a common issue with these because the button threads into the contact and they manage to work themselves loose over time some how. I've had it happen a couple times, but since then I've always made sure to check it fairly often, so I'm not sure what caused this. The battery seems to be fine, it was still holding a charge (3.8v) and charged fully after this. No signs of venting, but I wasn't right at the amp limit. I'm not sure how long it was firing before I noticed.

I actually messed up my fix a little. Lol. I threaded the button a little too far into the contact and it is permanently attached via red loc-tite. I have to hit the switch in just the right spot for it to fire because there is not quite enough button travel now. Oh well, it was only $20.

Thankfully my GV clones don't have this problem. What I was thinking is that maybe I should add a spring with a higher resistance.

When you added the loctite, did you cover just the tip or on the threads?
I actually just put a single drop in the battery contact portion. IMO, it would be better to put it on the threads of the button, but I didn't think it through very much before doing it. Lol. Don't put it on the end, because that may or may not actually make contact with the bottom of the hole in the battery contact. You CAN thread it too far, like I did.



And use blue loctite, at least later on with a good wrench or something you can get it loose....red...without some heat...it ain't easy getting loose

When junk starts rattling loose off your motorcycle...you learn the value of blue loctite very quickly ;)
Unfortunately all I had was red loc-tite, so I just went for it. Maybe not the best approach looking back :D

I was thinking that if I add the loctite at the tip of the firing pin, it would be easier to disassemble if I ever need to. However if I added it to the threads, I fear that the loctite will be spread around inside making it more difficult to dissasemble later down the road and possibly blocking the electric current.
