Hello, I'm planning on ordering a Kanger Protank 2 for a Hammer Clone I just ordered and was looking at the replacement coils and noticed they come in different OHMs. Being pretty new to vaping (2-3 months and only recently upgrading to mechanical mods) was wondering what these different OHM levels might mean and how they would effect my vaping experience with this set up. Options available are 1.5, 1.8, 2.2 and 2.5. Full setup would be a Hammer Clone and Sony 18650 Battery with the Protank V2.

the short answer if you're not using a variable voltage device : lower Ohms = less heat to your coil.
You might want more heat if you are using high VG juice or are chasing clouds, lower heat if your juice is thin or tastes like it's burning...

posting this chart for you from another thread -- it helped me 'get it' : http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m9dkanCt0I1qc8949o2_1280.png

I build coils around 1.2 - 1.8 ohms, and, depending on topper, vape at 7 - 12 watts. The higher the wattage, the greater the heat, and depending on coil and air flow, the greater the vapor and flavor. There are many variables, but since most entry level batteries go to about 4 volts, I would buy the 1.8 ohm coils all day long. This calculator will help with these Ohm's Law Calculations:

Watts - volts - amps - ohms conversion calculator

This video will help to explain how these factors interrelate to vaping:

Good luck, and remember to ask plenty of questions about these issues. All the best in your VapeQuest!

I'm hoping to get bigger clouds but just looking for a simpler tank as I'm running a drip tank/ RBA on my nemesis and not wanting to run 2.

Lower resistance will run hotter for the same voltage.

The hammer is a mechanical mod isn't it?

Good answer put in basic terms haha. Yes the hammer is a mechanical mod, I'm already running a Nemesis and Igo-W rebuildable. I can see why Mech Mods are not advisable for beginners though I'm trying to pick up as much knowledge as possible and get a lot of info from my local B&M. It's right by my work so I spend a lot of time there on my lunch and after work when I'm picking up new juices, coils, etc..
