Been vaping on a cartomizer for 9 months now, just received 2 regular JOYE 510 atomizers from heaven-gifts, not HV and not LR. Using them with a 901 to 510 adapter on a regular KR808D-1 ecig battery with a Delrin drip tip, I blew out the primer, made many puffs on the 2 atomizers with different juice I made that I've been vaping for over a month and that I like, problem is they make plenty of vapor but almost no flavor and barely any throat hit, the vapor is also cool I don't feel it like I do with my cartomizers. It also leak like hell ! Batteries are fine, they work wonder on my cartomizers.

My juice are around 40% VG, 50% PG, 10% flavor and around 10mg of nicotine.

I just puff on it until it tasted burnt and no changes.

Maybe I'm just not an atomizer type of guy, maybe I prefer the taste of burn filler from carto! But just in case... Have I done something wrong? Any trick aside from dewicking and/or debridging (because I'll try that soon) that I can try to make it better? If I don't like a 510 atomizer I guess it's also mean that I won't like 306 or LR atty ?

In my experience atty's take a while to break in. It can take a few hours or a full day. Give it a chance. As far as the 510 to 306, the 510 is a lot cooler. If you like warm vapor try the 306, even the standard 306 is a lot warmer. I didn't like it for that reason. I prefer the cooler vapor of the 510. The LR 306 will give lots more vapor than an LR 510 in my opinion. I mostly use 100% PG and get good vapor and killer TH out of my LR 510's, but I am running them on a big batt mod. Your 40% VG may be decreasing TH, but that's just an assumption on my part.

In my experience with dripping, if your atomizers are leaking as much as you suggest in your post, perhaps you are putting in too many drops. Maybe because you are looking for a bigger th, you are adding more juice to try to increase it? Usually, I only find my atties leaking when I've put too much juice in them, sometimes accidently if I've not vaped what was already there. An excess of juice will reduce the vapor/flavor/th.

cskent may also be right, that the 40% vg you use is cutting the flavor and th.

Try blowing them out really well, from either end (I usually use the mouthpiece end, but I don't think that it makes too much difference). Then set the atty on a flat surface with the thread end up for a little while to let gravity pull out any remaining juice. When done, start with just two drops of eliquid, or three at most.

It is also possible, in my experience, for some adapters to make a less that perfect connection at either the atty end or the battery end, causing the atty to receive too little voltage for a good vape. Check and recheck the connections at either end.

I had one type of pen style atty that would not even connect through an adapter, while a slightly different but compatible pen style atty works just fine.

Good luck, Zurd.

I have been experimenting with VG/PG mixes.. always done pure PG. I liked the idea that VG adds more vapor.

I found anything really over 15-20% you get great vapor, but it kills the throat hit. On top of that, moving from cartos to dripping you're going to loose even more throat hit from what I like to think of as the stuffing throat hit... I don't think of it as a good hit though.. uck...

You could also try different flavors. Add a few drops of 100% PG fireball to any flavor and it will add some hit. :)

You can try de-bridging, but in my experience it didn't really improve anything all that much and made it SO much easier to flood. It's also really easy to screw up and break the whole thing. I did this as a last ditch effort to try and get some better performance. Wished I hadn't.
I read someone say on this forum that it made no sense to do it anyway. Why would a manufacturer include the bridge, mesh, etc if it wasn't necessary and hindered performance? That wouldn't be very cost effective.

I recently converted to cartos. Don't miss the leaking or constant dripping/topping off.

it is completely necessary if using the product as intended, with cartridges. Atty's are not intended to be used for dripping.

Looks like it was a good thing to buy some atomizers after all, I just had a gastric flu, didn't eat for a full day and was barely able to eat for one more day, that gave my tastebuds quite a break, I can barely eat anything spicy now and I'm used to it, everything's has much more flavor it's incredible, in particular those nasty cartomizers, I can so taste the filler now. I've been vaping on those atomizers for 4 days now, they're great.

Now I need to buy anything atomizers, sigh, more spending ;)

And probably a new drip tip, this belrin tip doesn't really work, most of the drop doesn't even hit the atomizer.

I'm another who can't use the cartos with the cotton batting around the coil. I love the flavor of them starting out, but I can't keep from burning them up in short order. lol. I think it's the way I vape as I like to take three or four puffs in a row, then rest a bit and repeat. I like relatively cool vapor and I try to get off the button a little on that last pull but the heat buildup seems to be too much. I have fifteen of them laying over in a box that I got very little use from. (I'm a slow learner lol.)

On the other hand, I really like the 510 atty. I have one bridgeless for dripping, and three more that I've taken out the few strands of silica from under the bridge. They seem to wick just as well without it. I do perform a modified straw mod on my carts tho.

A carto that I do enjoy in the new E2s. I don't have the clear ones yet but that's probably my next order. You have to 'fiddle' with them tho. I just take our both plugs and leave them out, pop on a drip tip and go. If you haven't checked them out yet there's a couple of good videos on the Mad Vapes site.

Later, JD :vapor:

So much to try, so little money :)

How much vape do you get when dripping ? I get 1 or 2 very good puffs with 2 drops directly on the bridge, then about 5 other puffs until the taste is burnt. With 4 drops it leaks a lot. And 3 is pushing it.
