I now think it's the atty not making good contact because of the bad threads, not the button.

It hasn't been uncommon to have loss of atty contact with the GLV, seemingly for reasons other than soft threads. I have sporadic issues with it and several ppl have posted about it. They say it's the atty connector itself moving out of place inside the tube, and some have rigged something in there to hold things in place. (I don't have the skills or tools for that so for now I'm using the staple mod somewhat regularly to establish contact.)

The contact loss issue was recently discussed amongst other things near the end of the 'Insulation Material' thread, tho Jay didn't give suggestions or input (had said earlier however that the moving atty adapter problem had been fixed in new models...). I think it would be a good idea for him to do up some detailed stickies on any common GLV issues and questions, especially since he's very busy and doesn't have much time for this forum.

Anyway, hope my GLV's atty adapter isn't continuing to get pushed inwards but not sure yet. I use a 510 to kr808 adapter and cartos, and all the cartos that don't fire on my GLV do work fine on my other gear. Actually I guess if the real issue is soft threads I might not notice it because in my case I'm only screwing cartos on and off their special adapter, which is mostly left in place in my GLV's atty connector. But I did notice that lately the carto adapter is becoming harder and harder to remove when I do want to and often requires pliers now, so who knows. The threads don't look stripped as of now but again, mine are encountering much less direct screwing of stuff than would those of someone who uses regular atties with no extra adapter in between.

Just out of curiosity maybe you could try the staple mod, to see if more contact between the metals might get you anywhere (does for me). Not that you'd want to have to deal with it that way permanently but it would help zero in by process of elimination anyway.

But for one thing if the battery tube definitely does start to get warmer when you press the button and the atty isn't firing, Jay's said that does mean a bad switch. Not sure if that particular symptom always exists tho.

The have fixed my glv's. The center conductor will not move on mine anymore. I took one of the little donut shaped grommets that jay puts in the atty tube and I cut all sides and made it square. Then I used a t handle Allen wrench to push it in the bottom side of the tube all the way up to the center conductor. Next you will need to partially screw your atomizer, cartomizer adapter or whatever your using into the threads. Next I use my Allen wrench to push the center conductor up until it hits the bottom of the atty. Then I fill the rest of the tube with rtv silicone and take the little plastic cap and fill it with rtv and press in the end of the tube. Once this dries and you screw your atty the rest of the way on it will be pressing against the silicone. This works wonderful for me. Never had a problem with it pushing down since I did this on 2 glv's. Oh yeah the little plastic caps I was talking about at the end is something that jay just started using in the end of the tube. I found mine at lowes and told jay about them.

I did try the staple mod and nothing happened. Then put my neighbor's meter across the terminals and got nothing. Didn't notice the tube getting hot. Just sent it back in the mail. No sense having it sit here.
Yes i agree. send it back to me ill take care of it. If anyone has an issue with a GLV don't wait contact me right away. I have made over 150 GLVs ,so its going to happen that a few will need to be sent back. There is not a MOD out there that has not had a few issues, and I would rather just fix the problem and have happy customers then to people going through the hastle of trying use staples and other things to make it work. I will always take care of your GLV as long as you own it. I dont do this for the money ,and it's very important to me that my little babies are working well.

Hi Jay, I asked this a couple times in another thread but I guess (prefer to think ;)) you just didn't see it. Would have been better to call I imagine. Anyway:

Since I'm often in your area can I just meet up with you sometime to get my GLV's atty connector tweaked? As long as it's still mostly working there's probably no rush, could be anytime I'm in town and it's also good for you. But if that turned out to be a bit outside the warranty period would you still consider it covered, since I did report the issue within it (soon after I first received my GLV last month)? Tia!

i must have one of the new ones ,my adaptor seems to be solid in the tube, its air tight, and so far this glv works excellent,i got mine with a 510 adaptor ,right now im using an adaptor to a 801,i wont remove the 510 to 801 adaptor to keep the treads solid, less you play with it the better, also im using silicon grease on all the threads to help prevent galling, but my first day with the glv-5volt -510 works excellent, glad i got it ,,k9frog

You could try using some noalox on the adapter to device threads:)

Thanks for mentioning that, I have been meaning to buckle down and get more into the care & feeding aspects of mods!

I am very glad I bought a GLV, rough patch or no I've never regretted it for a sec. Still love the lil devil and still mesmerized by the purty color and great looks. And hearing from Jay here made it all gooder! :D
