I now think it's the atty not making good contact because of the bad threads, not the button.
It hasn't been uncommon to have loss of atty contact with the GLV, seemingly for reasons other than soft threads. I have sporadic issues with it and several ppl have posted about it. They say it's the atty connector itself moving out of place inside the tube, and some have rigged something in there to hold things in place. (I don't have the skills or tools for that so for now I'm using the staple mod somewhat regularly to establish contact.)
The contact loss issue was recently discussed amongst other things near the end of the 'Insulation Material' thread, tho Jay didn't give suggestions or input (had said earlier however that the moving atty adapter problem had been fixed in new models...). I think it would be a good idea for him to do up some detailed stickies on any common GLV issues and questions, especially since he's very busy and doesn't have much time for this forum.
Anyway, hope my GLV's atty adapter isn't continuing to get pushed inwards but not sure yet. I use a 510 to kr808 adapter and cartos, and all the cartos that don't fire on my GLV do work fine on my other gear. Actually I guess if the real issue is soft threads I might not notice it because in my case I'm only screwing cartos on and off their special adapter, which is mostly left in place in my GLV's atty connector. But I did notice that lately the carto adapter is becoming harder and harder to remove when I do want to and often requires pliers now, so who knows. The threads don't look stripped as of now but again, mine are encountering much less direct screwing of stuff than would those of someone who uses regular atties with no extra adapter in between.
