This time of year it could be allergies that cigarette smoking might have masked. If you are concerned about if it is connected to vaping your prefilled, you could get some sample sized juices from other vendors with various amounts of pg/vg and fill your own cartomizers.

I do get more mucus this time of year from allergies but I dont get the runny nose or sneezing... nothing bad enough to get allergy medications, just enough that I notice it here and there...

good luck!!

I found I would get somewhat hoarse and phelmy in my first few months when I used a very high
PG percentage, and at the same time didn't drink enough water. I now use a 50/50 mix and
always have a water bottle in my hand or on my desk.

You also indicated you're using "pre-filled cartomizers" where the supplier can change up the mix
or flavorings without you knowing. If there's a particular flavoring additive / chemical that doesn't
agree with you, it could be a slight allergic reaction.

+10 on checking with your doctor first !!!! :)

I'm a veteran, not a doctor, (but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express).
I have a minor intolerance to PG. I can't handle more than 30%. When I vaped 50/50, I was getting throat irritation and a tightening of my throat and chest. Not a lot of mucous, but sinus draining and irritation. It didn't start right away, but after a couple months. I cut the PG completely out and it all cleared up. I gradually worked my way back up to 30% where I'm staying now.

Since you've already seen a doctor and nothing is medically wrong, I'd say you might want to eliminate the PG and see what happens. You can add a little back in at a time if it clears back up so that you find your tolerance level. 100%VG is o.k, but not optimal. It has it's drawbacks. Full blown PG allergies are very rare. Some degree of intolerance not so much.

You also may be clearing out your lungs (just a guess - no doc here)... it's gotta go somewhere, right? Would follow dr's instructions and try changing your juice to see if it helps. As always, drink tons and tons of h2o - vaping dehydrates and it's easy to forget how badly you need water when you vape.

Hope it's just allergies and that you feel better soon.

6 months seems like a long time to be vape related.

I had a heavy feeling in my chest, coughing and found out pretty much from the get go that for me it was VG. I switched to PG and was fine. I suspected it may have been symptoms from quitting smoking and tried high VG again about 3 months into vaping and had the same symptoms again. So, for me I can't have a lot of VG.

You could try a different brand of e-liquid and see if the problem persists. If it continues, I'd see another doctor.

I have chronic bronchitis myself, and have noticed after the initial 3 weeks of smokers cough, wich i have gotten over now, i still cough when i vape, and clear my throat as well, alot of it has too do with drinking enough water, as vaping drys you out.. the cilia in yor throat are recovering from smoking and regrowing as well, wich also can cause that tickle in the throat..

Mugsie...I have merged your 3 threads on the same subject so members can help you better ... makes it easier to help you to have it in one spot.

came back to edit & add:

If I don't keep water with me all the time, I get kind of a thickish feeling chest with a cough...like you can't get behind it to quit coughing.
I also have to stay on top of the allergy meds.

I have the same issues with PG. It irritates my throat and makes me cough. I can handle maybe 20 - 25% PG mixed with VG and that's about it.

in my personal experience (as a vaper not as a doctor) i had a similar situation about 3 month after i started vaping.
i solved reducing nicotin from 18 to 16.
it happened again a few months later and i reduced again from 16 to 12.
than it happened again after 1 yr, and i passed at 9mg/ml, and i'm still at 9.
and it seams ok for me.
i think it is something you could try and see.
take in mind that if you reduce more than 2mg, you could have a couple day with a weak hit, but it will be fine in a couple day.
