I have been making my own eliquid with a 36 nic base and vg plus flavouring, whilst not amazing it was adequate.
However with this stronger nic base I am using less to achieve my target 24mg strength consequently the resulting liquid is too thick
What am I doing wrong? Should I be using pg as well as vg as a dilutent.
thankyou for looking

I'm assuming you mean 72 mg/ml...

Was the 36 mg/ml in 100% pg? If so, then you will have to add something to thin your liquid to get it to the same consistency as what you were doing before. You can use pg for a portion of your liquid or you can thin with some vodka or similar alcohol, even a few drops of distilled water will work. Most people use at least some percentage of pg, unless they are allergic to it.

What was your previous recipe? Someone can probably explain how to use a juice calculator and pg to get the same pg/vg ratio with your new recipe if you will post a list of ingredients and amounts used.

Thankyou for replying..Yes it was pg. the calculator I use is from eliquid labs.co.uk

strength of base nic. 36mg
final strength 24mg
% flavour concentrate 10%
no other dilutents.

I am not allergic to pg but have never used it. I have only been using diy for a few months and would like someone to explain about pg. advantages and disadvantage..I have noticed I dont get much vapour with just vg

VG is usually associated with more vapor, but maybe since your juice is so thick it's not giving much?

Okay, so with the info you gave looks like your recipe would be something like this, using 10 ml final volume as an example:

6.7 ml 36mg/ml base (PG)
1.0 ml flavor (in PG, I'm assuming)
2.3 ml VG

Is that right? If so, then you've got a total of 7.7 ml out of 10 made up of PG, which would be 77% PG.

You can download any juice calculator and input a 77% PG 23% VG ratio and it should give you a ratio similar to what you were getting before. It would be something like:

3.3 ml 72mg/ml base (PG)
3.4 ml PG
2.3 ml VG
1.0 ml flavor

The juice calculator I sometimes use is iSvapo free for the ipad. I've also used several of the others back when I was on a PC more (ejuicemeup, and the scubatdan spreadsheet one). They all work fine. I'm sure there are many more that will also work.
