I ordered a black Pharaoh from a vendor I've used many times in the past because they said it was In Stock. I assumed In Stock meant they had it In Stock... Silly me.

My order is taking forever to ship and I haven't heard anything from them so I logged in today and went to the black Pharaoh and it says "held up at customs by the FDA"

How could that happen if it was indeed In Stock??

Am I upset about this unreasonably? There were other places to order from, but I chose them because they said they had it..

Anybody ever dealt with this? How long does this kind of thing usually take? I can't see what the problem is... it was released before the 8th so should be perfectly legal right?

So the vendor listed it as in stock, charged you for it, and now claims it's held up in customs? That is not good at all. You need to decide if you want to hang in there a bit longer, but you should make sure the vendor is going to refund any money taken from you for a product not even in their possession. If they're not forthcoming about your payment and expectations, I'd consider contacting your bank and file for a charge back. You did not hire the vendor to act as an import agent for you (I hope, no idea what terms and conditions you agreed to).

This is SOP for many Ebay vendors. Since they have up to 30days to actually ship the product, they sell inventory they don't yet own themselves.

"In Stock" to them actually means: "my supplier has stock".
I had to re-read the OP. Didn't see eBay mentioned as the vendor this happened from.

Yeah I expect this kind of shenanigans from ebay, but it wasn't them. I guess it doesn't matter if I say. The vendor is vaportek

They sent me an email Monday saying it's "in stock and ready to ship" exact words from the email.

Lot of online stores are beginning to use drop shippers so they don't have to hang on to the stock locally. So while the inventory may indeed show as being in stock, it may not be at the actual store location, but located at the drop shipper. You'd have to ask them if they use this method and where their drop shipper is located.

@champions,Thanks.
I would assume that it is their supply being held up. If it was being shipped to you
the notification would have been to you via a tracking number. I would do a charge
back if the vendor doesn't agree to refund your money.

This is the first I have heard of customs or the FDA interfering with e-cig related
imports to US vendors since the 2009 fiasco. Please keep us updated in any event.
Regards
Mike
