Hi,

I have a Cobra clone atty which i cant get the coil to work. My setup is correct; the mesh properly oxidized, coil is even around 4 round. When I burn the coil alone without the wick inside it, the burn is perfect. It glows nicely evenly. Whenever the wick is inside, it will burn the top most coil which the first one to contact the wick.

What could i have done wrong here? Any suggestion. Thanks.

If your wick is properly oxidized it don't matter if it touches the bottom. Wick holes aren't insulated on most models of genisis atomizers so the wick is already grounded if there's not an oxide layer on the wick.

Bend the wick as needed to reduce the distance between the wick and positive post as much as you can. Sometimes i put a kink in the wire where it comes off the wick, not sure why but this seems to help. Other than that poke and prod the coils while firing the device to rearrange them until they glow even.

If it remains a problem use a multi meter to continuity test your wick, if it has continuity then its not properly oxidized.

Just to make sure, ive re-done my coil, tested with meter for continuity and its perfectly oxidized. And the coil still popped with the wick.

Sorry I still think you have poor oxidization. i tried the multimeter thing, "for continuity and its perfectly oxidized" !!!
No such thing as perfectly oxidized.
As dirtyrigger said "poke and prod the coils while firing the device to rearrange them until they glow even."

you need to reduce the output of your battery device, and pulse the fire button, this will allow you enough time to "poke and prod the coils while firing the device to rearrange them until they glow even."
Good luck.

sorry i may have used the wrong word... what i meant was that i did test with meter and there is no continuity... i also have reduced the voltage starting from the minimum 3.0 v... and the coil is also nicely separated every layer there is no touching...
Your coil sounds like it's to tight at the top, if you start of with a looser coil then do this:http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...specific-devices-post7769707.html#post7769707 9 and look at my post that follows it.

(From the post)
I find my coil does a lot of the oxidizing if I do this:
Loose wraps sink ships LOL. So Do minor shorts
As we know you should see no air, when you do your dry fire and get those coils ( even one or Two) glowing you can more each wrap of coil one at a time to take up any slack (as long as there not really loose)
If you wrap your coil with enough gap between each wrap this gives you more adjustment potential.
Imagine you have a 3/4 wrap and the coil is like this: [[[ ,but you have air gaps or looseness,or minor shorts. Do your dry fire and one wrap at a lime with a tooth pick move the hot coil like [[/ then [// then /// ,I hope you get my drift.

do you wrap the coil on the wick itself after inserting the wick?
i find uneven tention or loose wraps on/near the top cause this for me more times than not.
I have a small screwdriver that fits the atty hole i use and make the wick exactly the same diameter as the screwdriver i first wrap the coil on the screwdriver, insert screw driver and pulling the ends tight fasten the ends of the coil onto the atty posts/screws.
then i gently slide the screw driver out and drop the wick in, it should be snug but not grab. with the paper clip still in the wick i then adjust for hotspots, using the paerclip and gently tugging against the wire at the top to pull it tighter if need be.
after pulsing and a little prodding, i usually get a decent coil glow, then take my fingernail to hold the wick and slide the clip out. and check again. if ok i add a few drops and check for cold spots. if need be i gently adjust the coils a bit, then add juice to the tank.
