I have been trying to learn how to do this and I am getting better...BUT...I use a micro screw driver to wrap mine on and keep the screwdriver on until I reinsert the insulator and the pin. I remove the screwdriver and everything is straight.

However when I go to put it in the base and on my Provari I see that it has gone totally crooked!

Is this normal? Cause when I try to straigten it up it doesn't want to read the ohms anymore.

Any help is most appreciated!

Thanks!

Sounds like a combination of you over-tightening when fitting the tank on the ProVari, maybe combined with the use of the silicone insulators that Kanger started using a while ago? While easier to fit and harder to scorch, they are quite slippery, allowing the coil to move a lot more than the old rubber insulators.
So try tightening a bit less, and/or get your hands on some rubber insulators - I think there's a place called Kidney Puncher selling them in the US.

How do you clip your leads? It's possible you have a bit of lead sticking out of the bottom of the head and screwing it into your mod is pushing the leads which pushes your coil up touching the top of the housing and shorting out.

I don't use clippers to clip my leads when rebuilding Protank heads, I bend the leads back and forth with the bend as close as possible to the housing until it breaks.
