I don't really follow your theory. If the filler at the mouth end is dry...

I believe the theory is that if the filler at the mouth end is NOT dry...

... it will tell if there is any moisture in the opposite end [mouth end]. If there is it naturally follows that mositure remains throughout [threaded end].

Then the carto is not dry.

Well, ya see, that wouldn't make any sense then. The filler dries from the outside to the inside. The filler can be dry at the mouth end but still be wet inside from the middle to the threaded end, since the filler is rolled fairly tight and it takes longer than 2 days for the entire filler to completely dry (based on the experiment I did). In other words, I don't see how you can place a tissue up against the filler at the mouth end and determine if the filler from the middle to the threaded end is actually dry or not.

Am I the only one who doesn't get irwink's theory?

This method will not tell you if it is dry at the bottom near the battery. It will only tell you if it is likely NOT dry.

Nope. Not much. LOL

LOL - I wasn't gonna keep this goin', but couldn't resist. Here was irwink's original comment:

"Twist up a bit of facial tissue, force it against the filler and observe whether or not it absorbs any moisture. Then you'll have a better idea of what's going on."

Ok, I just took a tissue and forced it against the filler, observed no moisture, but I still haven't the foggiest idea of what's going on. LOL!

 you guys are silly ... not sure if you mean to be... but I find you amusing ...& informative

Ok so I just cleaned my 1st batch a few days ago & they all survived ...
did a few atty's at the same time & all my used carts and asst pcs & parts ....

I soaked it all in ISO alcohol in a deli container w/lid ,
so I could swirl it all around every once in awhile for an hour or so...
then moved all the parts to a glass flat bottom bowl, stood up atty's & carto's ...
boiled water in micro 'bout 4 times ... cuz I kept forgetting it...

poured hot water into att's & carto's , let that all sit for awhile till cool enough
to attach & force water back & forth thru atty's & carto's with a large syringe
(w/piece of siphon hose 4 the connector).... put all the little stuff on a towel...
blew thru attys till there was no more water coming out either end ...
dripped vg in/on them, set them aside ...... I blew out the carto's..

then stood them up on top of the clothes dryer where air escapes around filter clean out ...
And blew them out a few x's when I would walk by...but it
wasn't moving fast enough so I tried the blow dryer w/washcloth in hand
& they started to look fluffy but I could still get a misty spray out of 'em when I blew in them ...

So I had a brilliant idea :w00t:
that I should just tie 'em up in a sock & throw them in the DRYER !
there wasn't any fabric softener on the load that was in there, so how bad could I mess 'em up ?

Well ... it actually worked ...the sock was untied .....but they were still in there &
the filler was REALLY fluffy & white ....amazingly !
The only real flaw was that the metal threads kinda scratched the plastic labels up.

So what I'm saying is ...HUBBY NEEDS TO FIX THE DAMN OVEN !!!

And I don't think I'm doing that again for awhile ....
too much work to get a fluffy white carto's ...just to put dark vanilla juice back in

Now who's being silly?

You could have automated the entire process by just
washing the cartos and socks together in the washing
machine (select delicates and second rinse) before
tossing them in the dryer!

Not sure I would want to wear socks that had been
washed in isopropyl alcohol though. I heard it can
make your feet go blind.

On a serious note...

Consider switching from ISO to PGA for the soak.

I cringe at the thought of vaping even a hint of
rubbing alcohol.

I'm pretty sure I rinsed all the ISO out & but I do see your point.... It's nasty stuff !
good gunk cleaner tho. I used to use it all the time to clean my face after yucky house/yard work...
but it always made me feel like it "locked up" my lungs if I caught a whiff of it ....

OT kinda... but my daughter is in Vet school & last week they taught them that if ya need to get a cat to quit purring to hear heart/chest sounds .... you put a cotton ball with a few drops of ISO to it's nose !!!!!!! OMG !! so sad I can't imagine ! poor kitty !

Okay Okay I am back. I ended up going back and blowing the carts and there was water coming out but not alot. Seems like it was still wet near the battery end but the top was dry. Since it has been kind of cold here, I couldn't put them outside. And my house got pretty cold so the fan wasn't drying them fast enough for me lol Soooo I tried the blow dryer but my blow dryer even on low setting was making my hands hot lol Sooooo I put them under my sit under hair dryer and let them all stay under there for about 30 mins and now they work like a champ.

I was still too scared to put them in the oven lol I'm already scared of that gas oven as it is when cooking.

And I wasn't going to use drinking alcohol because I rather drink it lol But the sit under hair dryer worked GREAT!

Glad your hair dryer worked. My experiments with cleaning cartomizers have proven to me that I should never clean cartos again, unless I do a quick flush of old juice using the syringe and rubber cone kit and hot tap water (and don't soak them in water, hot or boiling) and clean them only if they're not 3 or 4 weeks old and have been refilled 20 times. At that time, it's time to toss them because they're still gonna taste funky and be hard to drag on! After I've refilled a carto about 20 times, I'll just fill a brand new one.

If I vape a carto that's not completely dry, I'll end up with water on my tongue and have to keep spitting out saliva every time I take a drag.
