I absolutely love the Halo Triton system.

Used a cheap set up from our smoke shop while waiting on my Halo and glad I did because it made me appreciate how good the Halo Triton is.

Have had my system since October 9, 2013.

One of my batteries died November 19, and the other died November 20.

The light on the battery still lights up but it doesn't heat the coil at all and I tried all 7 tanks that I have.

I noticed on the 20th the second battery was fully charged but wasn't heating the coil like it usually does.

Like the battery was weak or something, then it died.

Why is the light still on but it isn't heating the coil?

Anyway, I sent a message to Halo asking if there is anything they can do for me and ordered a 1300mah battery.

Have had to use that cheap system I had in the beginning and better than nothing but the tank even gives off a plastic taste. yuck!

Just wondering how long these batteries should last and has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi, Cindy.

Contact Halo. If there is a tech fix, they'll know.

Does the bat glow normally without a tank? I know this sounds silly, but give it a try. Turn the battery off (5 clicks) then confirm it is off. Then 5 click it on. Now try a tank.

I would try recharging with the battery off. Does it blink 3 times when you start the charging? or 6 times?

Find someone with a voltmeter or multi tester. These can be bought cheap. Harbor Freight has one for like 6 bucks. I get like 4.2 from a fresh charged bat, if I recall correctly.

Is that little channel clean next to the center post? take a tissue and a drinking straw and clean it. The gunk might be sucking the power.

Do you hear the coil sizzle? Do you have another charger?

I've had mine since October 10th. The day after yours. They work great. But if mine stop working tomorrow, I'm holding you responsible, as you put the jinx on it. (or maybe me for responding? lol)

Do I ask a lot of questions??

Hope this somehow helps.

Wow, this is so weird. Right b4 I started reading this post, mine was doing the same thing. I Like the straw idea Dave. I usually fold a tissue into a point. I call it 'vape origame' to get into the area around the sealed battery top

It isn't the charger because I got the 1300mah battery I ordered and it charged just fine.

When you put either of the starter batteries on the charger, the light doesn't blink at all and the charger shows blue like it is fully charged.

I tried cleaning the first one after I discovered it wasn't working (I clean them once a week) and that did nothing.

I really think they are just toast, but to me they should have lasted longer than that.

Anyway, I have my new battery and will order a backup next week.

Guess I was just expecting it to last at least 3 months.

Thanks for all your posts, will let you know when I hear back from halo.

The batteries will last longer if you don't run them all the way down to the blinking shut off point. I can tell when the vape is a bit "colder".

All your Li-Ion rechargables are like that. Cell phones, r/c helicopters, laptops...

They say 300 charge cycles, and at one every other day, it should have lasted till March, 2015! Even if you charge it daily, it should go till August 2014 (assuming a 10/8 start.)

There's something wrong, no doubt. When you push the button and hold it for a long ten count, does it start to blink till you release?

Last, compare the height of the center contact of your 650 against the new 1300. Are they the same? If the 650 is lower, you might not be making contact with the center contact on the tank. If you ever screwed a tank on too hard, it might push that center post down. (With all things Halo, firm snug, don't torque it madly!!)

While thinking about all you reported, I wonder if this is the problem. The batts are charged, but not making contact. Get thee to a voltmeter. I've heard somewhere that the post could be pulled back up, but it's tricky.

Let me know, Cindy.

Just tried the battery that still has a charge and it does blink after the 10 second count til I let go of the button.

The center post thing was something I thought about but it looks identical to the new one.

Also, doesn't it seem weird that something like that would happen first to one battery. but also to the second one a day later?

Have not heard from halo and that doesn't make me very happy.

Even if they are just going to tell me they can't do anything for me.

Oh well, Guess I will see how it goes with this new 1300mah battery and the second one I am ordering tomorrow.

If they only last a little over a month, I don't know what I'll do.

I am hoping that this was just one of those things that doesn't happen very often.

Anyway, will try to find a voltmeter.

Had one a few years ago when I sold hearing aid batteries to check those but have no idea where it would be and yes they are cheap so maybe I will just order one.

Thank you so much for trying to help me DaveOno, it is much appreciated.

The center post thing was something I thought about but it looks identical to the new one. This is a very tight tolerance. My tank won't fire if loosened 1/4 turn looser than just snug, and I can tighten it 1/4 turn tighter than snug. Looking at the threads, we are talking a distance of 1/4 the distance between two threads, very tiny.

Also, doesn't it seem weird that something like that would happen first to one battery. but also to the second one a day later?Yes

My comments above in Red italics

Halo will get back to you. Did you do it via email? through the site?

No, this is abnormal. Normally, these type of bats will just slowly degrade, less and less puffs per charge, not just die.

Voltmeters are cheap, under $7 at Harbor Freight.

One last set of tests, did you try a cartomizer? or a mini tank, since it threads on the smaller threads?

And look at the tank on the 1300 vs the "dead 650. Does it screw down as far?

and put the drip tip near your ear, with the bad bat as well as the 1300 and fire the button. Do you hear anything?

Keep us informed.

ok, if the light on the battery comes on but you arent getting a good solid vape thre are two things that could be occuring

A. The battery center pin isn't contacting the head center pin properly
B. The coil is high resistance and not heating enough

There are a few ways to check, but you need a multimeter, they are pretty cheap $5.49 to be exact

You check the output of the battery, it should be between 4.2vdc and 3.2vdc, then check the resistance of the heads, for unregulated straight thru voltage setups (not the variable voltage kind) the resistance of the coils should read anywhere from 1.8Ω to 2.4Ω which using this chart should give you between 6-9 watts (6-8 usually being the sweet spot for most vapers)

a 650mAh eGo battery should last the average user approx 6-8 hours of pretty hard usage, then recharge, a 1300mAh, I hammered on for over 18 hours and it was still going strong

If the coils check good and the battery check good then your center pin on the eGo might be pushed down and not touching...use this method to fix that

Do you have the eGo-T tank type atomizers, or clearomizer tank looking setup?

DaveOno, emailed them thru the website, don't have a mini tank or carto, tank screws down just as far, put it up to my ear and there is no firing sound like there is with the new battery.

The way they died one right after the other makes me wonder if they weren't just defective, I don't know.

Anyway, guess I will just see what happens with the two new ones.

Thanks so much for all your help!

Just got an email from Halo today.

They gave me an address and asked me to mail the two defective batteries back to them and since there is a 60 day guarantee they will replace my batteries. Yeah!!

Now I will have my new 1300mah battery and two 650mah batteries.

I did PM Cinder ella yesterday so I wonder if she had something to do with this.

I did also let Halo know what a big help she is to people on this site.

Anyway, I am a happy camper again!

Excellent! Aren't you glad you made a good choice after your first cheap system and went with Halo? This is why I heavily recommend them. Halo CS seems always to come through. It might take a few days, but they come through. Another benefit of ordering from a manufacturer/vendor.

Cinder Ella is a charm.

And us Halons are here to help where we can, as well.

You've got to join in the next contest Cinder runs. The Halloween Contest was epic. (I won a free 30ml, got VooDoo!!)

Enjoy your Thanksgiving, Cindy!!!!

.....I only have the two 650mah bats that came with my Triton starter kit. Each bat gets charged every other day. Four months later, both are still working as good as they did when new. I have never used up a battery in a day. I don't even notice the voltage drop as the day goes by. I heard that Halo has quality batteries and so far, so good. Gotta love my Halo stuff! ;)

That all? I am like, so screwed. At that rate, mine should've conked out a month ago!

Heh, it's 300 full charges before your battery should start to lose its ability to hold a charge.

So barring a defect, and assuming you keep two batteries in rotation (and assuming you sleep roughly 1/3rd of every day), each batt should last at least a year.

Happy Thanksgiving to you DaveOno!!

I do think Halo's CS is really awesome.

So glad you are having great luck with your batteries JohnnyDill.

I rotated them similar to what you do and I am not a heavy vapor.

Probably moderate at best.

Oh DaveOno, I do love you Halons!

I have learned so much from you guys and always appreciate your help.

Hope you all are having a great Holiday!
