I use the mega charger from tw so I have to use the adapter for them. I have 3 adapters but one doesn't seem to work. If you are familiar with their chargers, when you screw on the battery the little green light will turn red and after a bit will flash green to indicate charging then turn solid green when charging is completed. Problem is with one of the adapters as soon as it's screwed on it immediately turns red, even without a battery or a fully charged battery, then it will never flash green and won't charge the battery at all. This a problem with the adapter or what? They sell them in 5 pks so I can only assume they might go bad. Any idea?

the adapter should be a simple hot/ground extension. It sounds like the hot/ground separator is not separating and the adapter is grounding itself. It probably did that right out of the box. Not sure if its worth returning, but it seems that adapter is bad.

I would also, just to make sure, that there is no juice on any of the threads or the charging port threads. I have found this will also keep batts from being charged, and one sometimes needs to use a paper towel to vigorously clean out the juice and/or the char that can form at the terminals, on the threads. If that doesn't fix it, consider the adapter toast.

A simple test on the adapter in question is to do a continuity test on it with a multimeter:
Multimeter Tutorial - Learning about continuity

Touch the inside threading of the adapter with one lead, and then touch the center connector of the adapter with the other lead. If there is continuity then there is a short and the adapter is faulty.

Hope this helps with what Kurt was saying and ruling out or identifying the adapter as the cause.
Dan.
