Problem with vertical coil

I've recently built a 1.8 ohm growl coil in a protank.
It's giving me a dry coil taste, like the same taste as the smell you get when doing a dry burn, not a burnt cotton taste.

The only way I've found to fix it is to wrap so much wick I get a really scratchy hit.

My wick is wrapped around the coil, doubled on one side. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Will add a pic when get home to take the tank apart...

You probably should review the original threads for the vertical micro coils if you haven't.

But, you have part of the coil that's not touching wick giving dry burn... On The flip side you have the wick too tight on the coil. You need a fluffy wick.
