Just got new atty with long wick and having a problem. I'm using a Clearomizer nova and wanted to try the longer wicks. Installed the new atty and filed the tube with juice. After letting it sit for about 10 minutes I gave it a try, tasted burnt. I put a drop right down the hole at the top and tried again. After a couple of pulls the burnt taste came back. If I tried puffing without activating the battery to draw some juice onto the atty then used as usual it was ok for about two more puffs then burnt again.
What am I missing?

I've said it before, but I sincerly believe about 5 months ago a HUGE batch of bad silica wick got made. Every silica I had before that time worked well, and about 5 months ago I got some new silica and it's just burnt tasting. About that time, these 'burnt silica' posts started cropping up and haven't stopped, and it's getting blamed on the devices it's in. It's like silicagate.

I see, maybe I'try changing the wicks out. BTW I bought them from, I think, Litecigs

Ok fixed the prob. The small plastic cap on the end of the atty was apparently squishing down on the wick. I put it on the shank end of a 1/4" drill bit and used a razor knife to slice about 1/8" off of the end with the large opening. I used the drill bit to keep the tip from smushing down which would cause an uneven cut.
Works great now. BTW these only cost $1.99 from Litecigs.

Cutting 2 nicks either side to sit on the wick also works.

eGo knockoff batteries will run about about 3.7 volts, which may be too much for a 1.8 to 2.4 Ohm resistance coil for the Nova tanks. You might want to look at getting a higher resistance coil, like maybe the 2.8 Ohm, or look into getting a variable voltage battery, such as the eVic. Too many volts going through your coil will often produce the burnt taste. I indicated in another post that I got a VapeOnly tank which produced a burnt taste at 3.4 volts, but was completely fine at 3.2 volts.
