Hi everyone - still very new to all of this, but I'm a work in progress....but while still learning, I hope this makes sense....

I seem to be having nothing but problems with my clearomizers - I have CE4's V4 and these "Mop head" clearo's that I got from HHV's. All have worked fine until I go to clean them. I've watched video's on cleaning them and follow all the steps using hot water/shake, etc. But when I go to use them again, they don't seem to work right. Today I filled two that I had cleaned and.....nothing. I'm using the same juice (Peppermint Twist 50/50) that I've used a lot this week and when I go to draw on it - nothing. No vapor, no TH, just nothing. I'd already tossed 2 earlier in the week for the same reason. I've got one working now but I have to draw much harder than before. What am I doing (or did I do) wrong here? I'm so confused and frustrated at the moment.

And though I really, really wanted to keep it simple, I feel like unless I just want to use the CE4's as disposables, I guess I need to step up to the mini vivi nova's? Or something else? I didn't really want to mess with taking things apart and replacing parts, but I'm guessing that's what I need to do...?? The Mop head one's from HHV's have a replaceable coil - should I get those and do you need to replace it after cleaning? Any guidance/advice would be very appreciated!!

You did not mention the whole procedure you are using to clean them, so I don't know why you're not getting any results.

I usually soak mine for a couple hours, allow to thoroughly dry (and I do mean thoroughly) and then I dry burn them about 5 or 6 times. Each time I do the dry burn, I blow on the coil to release residue (do not blow on the coil while firing; you could burn out the coil). Sometimes if there is a large gunk build-up, I will dry burn more times and occasionally I will use the thread end of a small sewing needle to gently remove some of the ash. I have been able to use clearos for months by using this method. Just clean frequently.

Basically I empty any juice still in there, repeatedly fill with hot water, shake, empty, repeat (probably 6 times or so). After last time, I shake really hard to get any water out, then let dry (at least a day and I usually flip them upside down at some point - I don't really know why but I do). After a day, I'll pick it up, blow through it a few times, do a dry burn 2 or 3 times....then I fill and that's where the problems start....

I've used the CE4's and found cleaning a PITA cuz I couldn't take them apart. When I cleaned I first removed the silicon cap just under the drip tip (inside the tank) and soak the tank in water or PGA overnite. Next day filled and shake several times with water. Dry burn 3-4 times and rinse again to remove ash from coil. Allow to dry completely, reinstall silicon cap and vape.

Either the coil got messed up or the bottom battery end of clearo is not making contact with battery. You may have to gently pull it out a bit. Pulling the post on a cartomizer but the same idea- pull up about 1/32".

Vivi Novas can be completely taken apart and thus maintenance/ cleaning is a breeze. Changing the head is inexpensive ($2.00) and easy (10 secs). My Vivi heads are lasting 8+ weeks and the only reason I change them is the wick begins to shred- still fires fine.
Washing the head cleans the wicks. Dry burning cleans the juice gunk on the coils and turns it to ash.

any wick based atty is going to clog over time ultimately they are a long filter and get clogged with the flavoring over time and you just cant get them back to 100% no matter how you clean them. your best bet is to get something like a vivi nova with some spare heads and just reuse the heads once or twice and then toss it and stick a new one on.
you can also try some cartomizers with a tank i pay about 80 cents each and they last be able two weeks each and work about as well as clearomizers but with a little less maintenance.

I would also suggest the vivi nova, they're wonderful! They do have a mini size if you don't want a bigger one. The mini is very close to the stardust size. But if you want to stick with the stardust, definitely start getting the rebuildable ones. A buck or two more, but they're a 1000 times easier to clean, dry burn etc. As to dealing with the ones you have, I also was going to suggest pulling the pin and see if that helps if it's not firing at all, I had to do that often with my stardusts. Hasn't been an issue with vivi's. If it's firing but not giving flavor/th that you want, are you making sure you give it ample time to wick up well? I usually would have to vape quite a bit before the stardusts got back into it's groove. One of the several reasons why I quit using them.

ETA: also if it's firing but not vaping well, it could be you aren't getting the coil super clean if you're only dry burning 2-3 times. Make sure there is no more "smoke" coming from it, and that you can see the coils glowing really well. I dry burn mine around 10 times or so when I clean them

What Debadoo said ^^^^^^^. If you do buy the Vivi make ABSOLUTE sure it's the VISION (brand) Mini Vivi Nova 2.0 ml. There are knockoff Vivis that don't work as well.
Also the CE4 uses the outside large male eGo thread and thus covers the threads. The Vivi Nova use the inner smaller 510 female threads thereby NOT covering up the outside eGo threads. If buying the Vivi you may want to purchase a sleeve to hide the threads- also adds extra support to the tank

Thanks - I think I will order a mini vivi nova to try it out - I'm sure there will be info on cleaning/changing the head so I'm probably making it more complicated than it really is.

And thanks for the video Vapor eyes er!!! I've now been sucked in to watching pbusardo's videos and checking out his site - great information!!! :)

You're welcome Jen. I also am hooked on his videos. Here's a Vivi Maintenance Vid by PB. Long but lots of great info and glad to hear from another PB groupie- realize he's using the larger 3.5 ml Vivi- looks funny on an eGo class PV

Info won't really come with them, but they are just so super easy! The heads screw on and off, so that's all their is to changing one. To clean, just unscrew the bottom, the stem is attached to the bottom, so it pulls out. Unscrew the head, take off the silicone cap thingy, rinse everything, blot the wicks dry with a paper towel.
Dryburn:
4 second blasts at around 3.4 volts (if you have a vv mod. This is what an ego is usually set at) let cool a couple seconds between firing blasts.
Dry burn until there is no more "smoke" coming off, and all the coils are glowing red and you can see each individual coil with white wick underneath.
Rinse again, blot dry. Reassemble, fill and vape.

the whole process takes just a few minutes. If you're changing juices you can use a drop of dish soap on the plastic tube and drip tip if you like, but never on the wicks/atty head. There are tons of videos that show you how to do this.

That looks like the newer CE5, Stardust, et al, with the replaceable coils. Come fully apart for cleaning and replacing the heads.

It's possible that the head is loose on the bottom post, and not making a connection to the battery.

Also possible that, when cleaning, if you did take it all the way apart, that you've damaged the coil / wick head part. They are pretty fragile. I just pat mine dry, then let sit.

i never dry burn , i did once and it made my clearo tast like crap, i just do a hot water rince with the spray nozzle on my kitchen sink until the wicks look clean , then i blow out the water and let it drain upside down above a heater vent for the warm air flow, then when i refill it i always take several primer puff without firing the batt and so far it works great

well dry burning should only be done on fiberglass/silica wicks you probably had a cotton wick, also when you do it to a proper wick you should burn it with short burns giving it time to cool in between and repeat until you no longer see any smoke from it and there will be no flavor left over.
also a small trick i do is leave the wick just slightly damp with deionized water before the burn.
so basically if you do it to a cotton wick or just dont do it long enough to a proper wick then it will taste really bad.
