Bit of a background.. I started vaping a few years ago 50/50 blend basic evod setup, I loved it and quit smoking no problem. My face starting breaking out really bad, I always drink a lot of water but I had gone through some diet changes as well so wasn't sure what it was from. I had been vaping for almost 2 years and my face was still really bad. Un manageable. I got fed up though and slowly quit vaping and started smoking again. Then I decided to see if it was possibly not from vaping and decided to try again. My face broke out badly again, and the only thing I did was start vaping again, so started smoking again. Now I want to go all Vg to see if that will help. My problem is that I love a 50/50 ejuice on an evod or protank 2. I've tried other tanks and never get what I need. But those tanks will not work with all Vg juice.
So I went out and bought a nautilus mini, 1. Because I've read great things about it and 2. Because the guy at the store told me its probably the closest to what I'm used to and can handle 100% Vg juice. I don't want or need huge vapour production and I want a bit of a throat hit.
I'm using it on a kanger subox or something ( Black with red buttons). Wanted to use it on my eleaf but the threading is gone :(
1.8 ohm about 8-9 watts. I'm a little unfamiliar with watts, have always used voltage. Also I always vape mouth to lung.
Anyways, it is so harsh on my throat, not a lot of vapour and taste like crap. Yes I've let it prime. I have tried other sub ohm tanks and it's always like this. My hubby was trying to start vaping and he wanted that huge vapour production type of vape and he bought multiple tanks ( Sub ohm) trying to do that but it was always harsh and not a lot of vapour.
Like what are we doing wrong? We have tried multiple different juices, some with pg and some without but we never can get a good vape.
Another reason I went back smoking, was because I was getting fed up wasting so much money on crap ejuice or tanks that sucked. I just never could find anything that worked other then basic evod tank with 50/50 blend.

Oh I'm also using 12 mg nic. Have always used it. But my hubby was using 6 mg I think when he tried sub ohming.

Sorry hope that's not too much info to throw out, I haven't posted in here in a long time but I just really want some help and advice to start enjoying vaping again, and finally quit smoking for good. Just seems everything we have tried lately is harsh and not much flavour or vapour.

Actually EVODs can work with VG with 5% distilled water. The idea that PG is more likely than any other component of the ejuice to cause issues seems to be one of those ideas that has little merit but won't go away, though. I have trouble with high VG and a couple flavors maybe.

I have tried that. Wasn't a fan. Can't remember why lol. But might look into it again. My only concern with pg is the drying effect to my skin. As I've seen a lot of people have complained of skin issues and vaping. But the only way to figure it out for sure is trial and error at the moment.

What I would suggest is to get yourself a bottle of VG and one of PG. USP grade of both can be had very inexpensively on Amazon.

From there it is a matter of experimentation. While using PLAIN UNFLAVORED base liquids you can narrow down what is causing the harshness for you. The liquid is so cheap I would not worry about putting a ML or two in a tank and trying it and then just dumping/rinsing out the tank to try something else.

I went through this early on: was it the PG, VG, Nicotine or the Flavoring messing with my sinus's? Where on earth is all that harshness/throat hit coming from?

After much experimentation I found that I could tolerate fairly high %mg nicotine with plan unflavored VG. From there I may add 1-5% flavoring or more often simply vape the unflavored at it is slightly "sweet".

The key here is experiment a bit to find what works for YOU.

Nautilus mini can't handle 100% VG. 1-3 drops distilled water per tank will allow it to wick properly. Once a coil in those is burnt it is finished. Sounds to me like the coil is burnt. I moved on from that tank fairly quickly as coils would not last. Rebuilding the coils is possible and many do it. I just found it too fiddly when building and wicking an rda was so simple.

Aspire Cleito would be a better option for pop in coils. Kanger subtank mini is another great option. Or serpent mini if you are wanting to go straight rebuildable.

I didn't see you mention what device you are putting these on which may limit your options
