Good Morning,

Just wondering if anyone can help? I bought the V7 yesterday and it shipped with an 18350 and 18650, and Nitecore charger.
No problems using it straight out of the box, and then I put both batteries on charge last night. The charger's reporting a full charge but when I put the batteries in and try to turn it on, nothing. I can't work it out. The Nitecore's supposed to be a solid set up. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

Yeah. I don't see how I could've killed the batteries by putting them on charge for a night. The Nitecore's supposed to be solid, and there are no switches or anything. Just put them in and charge, surely?
If it'sthe Vamo, that's just weak. It's only a day old. Second product from Myepack that's let me down and I don't have money to go and buy a multimeter. It never ends otherwise. I just wanted a decent set-up but it's been nothing but hassle. I'll go and see if I can find another battery. At least I'll know then.
Thanks.

I don't mean to preach, but you can certainly get unlucky and kill batteries by charging them overnight.

I did charge a pair once, accidentally, (Nitecore i2 charger) which didn't have a display and I was relieved the next day to find them rather hot but not dead.

Keep trying some combinations I guess (if you find some other batteries?). You might be able to work out that happened that way.

Good luck.

Without some way to test the batteries, it's hard to say whether the problem lies with the batteries, the charger, or the mod. Is there a local vape shop you can take the mod to? I'd be willing to bet they've got a battery or two in use that they can lend you to test your mod out with, at least.

Have I missed something? Having never used rechargables, I assumed it would be like charging a phone overnight.
Reading the batteries, it mentions not to overcharge and to use the Nitecore charger. Is that what I've missed? That I'm supposed to 'pull' them off after a few hours?
I hope it is my own ineptitude here. I can swallow buying another battery but I'll be ...... if I have to send the mod back.
Still a bit strange, why have unprotected batteries?

As far as I know, you don't usually need to use the same charger brand as the battery.

Yours are rated at 3.6v which is kind of strange, but again, I have no experience. My Nitecore chargers stop charging when the battery reaches 4.2v. They have been known to continue charging, which is what may have happened... but it's only 1 possible.

The 'protection' built into a protected battery is not there solely to stop overcharging. It also stops a problem by short circuit and over-discharge.

These batteries are intended for use in devices that do not have built in electrical control.. like a torch for example.

We use unprotected as most mods have built in chips which don't like already protected batteries, for a number of reasons.

Thanks for taking the time to answer, mate.
After reading around, I now realize that the batteries we're using are completely different from other batteries. I've spent hours on forums looking at mods but didn't give batteries a second thought.
My Nitecore batteries were unprotected so I'm assuming I killed them. If that turns out to be the case, I was planning on buying decent protected batteries tomorrow. You've just mentioned, however, that mods prefer unprotected so now I'm confused again. Should I get unprotected and just make sure to always remove them from the charger after a couple of hours. Thanks again.

Here is my best effort.. :)

On a mod with inbuilt electrical circuitry, you should only use unprotected batteries..

On a mechanical mod (one with no electrics) where it's just you and the battery touching two ends of a tube, you should only use IMR unprotected batteries.
Some people use a safety fuse too.

Usually, people link to a blog on here... I was just reading it on ebay...

I guess the Nitecore stops charging at 4.2V, but if you leave it overnight, that's enough to wreck the battery, which is what I did.
I think I've got it now and I'll try to get a new one tomorrow. It's difficult finding anywhere but online that sells them though.
One thing I've learnt is... always have a back-up mod
Thanks again. Have a good night.

Lesson learned. Alot of chargers have a trickle charge effect that still slowly charges a battery even when its suppossed to be full. Additionally I.gotta ask, did your nightcore charger come packaged WITH the Vamo? Cuz I purchased a V6 some time ago and it came with a nitecore charger as well. However this "Nitecore" charger was actually a cheap imitation charger that just had a fake nitecore logo embedded on it. I'd suggest just forking out and make sure you get a great charger. For some time I was using my Sigelei 150 all day over 100 watts, so I was killing batteries left and right and started to have to go periods without vaping cuz I had to wait for a charged one. Eventually I forked out for the Nitecore Digi D4 and have never looked back since. Completely charges a dead-dead-DEAD battery in 3hrs, can charge up to 4 at a time, no trickle charge, each battery charges completely independently of each other, has auto shut off when reaches full capacity (and it actually works), LED display which tells me everything I need to know.bout the battery, and tons of other extras (but that list got long). Forkimg out that 40$ was the best thing I ever did for myself battery wise. The old adage proves true..."You get what you pay for..."
