Hi
First of all, havent been around the forum much after i got my gear running and i felt i knew all i needed to use it properly.
Been vaping since back in Oct. last year.
Bought pretty much everything i could get my hand on back then when it comes to juices and cartos/attys.
I got a Riva set that i've used since then and been very happy with it.
After trying different setups I ended up with boge cartomizers as my favourite.
Back in march i got the lavatube, thinking it would be great with tanks.
I couldnt really get the hang of the tanks,i filled up the 2,5 ohm carto, then the tank, worked fine for a while then it would flood, and i wasnt happy with the vapour production compared to the riva and boge 2 ohms cartos. also had problems with it leaking.tried different kind of tanks and cartos. And just using the lava tube with a regular carto wasnt for me as its so big to carry around and i couldnt see it be much different from the riva that way.
So put it in a drawer and it stayed there till yesterday when i gave it a second attempt..new carto and tank, same thing..very little vapour and my throat quickly get irritated like im getting juice in my lungs. Tried different batteries and volt settings. Think its a smoktek carto with a prepunched whole, its definately 2,5 ohm. Using a selfmade 60/40 juice.

The last couple of months i've also had big issues with the boge 2.0 regular cartomizers for my riva.
Brand new alot of them have a real tight draw to them and little vapour.
None of them has been completely dead, but they dont feel at all like they used to in earlier shipments.

And my throat quickly starts acting up, dont know what it is but it feels like im getting too much juice in with the vapour.

I order for a few friends aswell and they have has similar problems with the boges in the last couple of months.

I try to take long slow draws when i vape.

Everyhing is bought from liberty flights.

Back in oct i bought a couple of smoktech mega dual cartos, i tried one back then and was happy with it, but didnt continue using it as i was trying out all these different flavours and hadnt found a fav yet to vape all day.
I had forgotten about it,and when i found the new one in the drawer a month ago i started using it.
Was so happy with it! finally something that worked again! I could vape it all day just topping off a couple of times a day to make sure it wouldnt burn. No burnt taste, no lack of vapour, no coughing, vaping was good again!
It eventually died (i killed it putting the needle into the center trying to open it up as it was getting clogged)
Today I got a new shipment of the same mega cartos, only this one has the ego style covering the threads.
I filled it properly with a syringe and let it sit for a while.
No burnt taste, but not as much vapour as i was used to with the last one i was using.
And my throat started acting up again...ah im so depressed from all of this..finally i had found something that worked great again..and this one feels just like the boges ive talked about earlier.
Should i bother filling up another one? i ordered 5 of these.

My last order of regular boges have been better but, ive had to go through a few to find one that works properly.
Getting quite expensive if just one in three works as they should.

I use 3 different Riva batteries that i circulate and a ego passthrough while im at the computer.

Anyone else having problems with these cartos or is it just me? Have I all of as sudden started doing something
really wrong?

Thanks for reading through all my rambling :)

You might want to at least try a clearomizer or fluxomiser. I've never tried them, and read mixed reviews on them, but the Stardust gets a lot of press here and they are pretty inexpensive. One that is getting very good reviews now that the initial kinks have been work out, is the Viv Nova. I do use this almost exclusively now. When I'm not using the Vivi Nova, I am using the newer Vision Ego clearomizer. Both the Vivi Nova and Ego Vision are very easy to take apart and clean. The don't leak and their atomizer heads are easily rebuildable.

I have bought 3 packs of 5 boge xl for my tanks and all have been awful. The vapour is good but the taste is so muted its like vaping pure water. Was going crazy thinking it was the Juice vendor had messed up with the mix. Found an old Smoktech cart and gave that a clean out and tried with my juice and low and behold it was sooooooooooo yummy.
Am going to stay away from boge for a bit and have now ordered a 5 pack of smoktech dual coil none punched cartos.

Oh and a good way to fill so ya dont flood is to drop 19 drops into the cart then fill the tank. when u push the cart to seal it it will force more juice into the cart, then let it sit for 10 mins. then on your 1st vape set the volts to 3 and take a light puff to make sure it taste ok

I've used 2.0 and 3.0 Boges for a long time. I've always enjoyed the rapid absorption of juice, especially when topping off. I've seen slow absorption and have had a difficult time getting Boge's saturated lately. I think there might be some issues with the filler being packed too tightly.

I've used a toothpick to create little voids along the sides of the filler on some and that helps. It's something I shouldn't have to do with my 100% PG light clear amber juice that has always soaked in immediately. All of this can vary from box to box and I can't tell which box was ordered at which time. I store them stacked in a plastic tool box, so they get mixed up in storage.

Hmm...maybe this is my problem. MY throat has been irritated lately also. I have changed so much so fast it's hard to pinpoint. I have a bunch of juices in different PG/VG ratios, a vtube, and a bunch of new SR and LR boges....ugh. I'm fighting through the coughing and irritation to avoid going back to cigs...but it's annoying enough at times I consider it.

I've noticed the same. It's not every carto and I don't know where I got them either. Not that it matters, the supplier doesn't make them. I also use thinner juice, clear juice and same thing happens. Not with every one, but with some. I'll stick it out because I don't really like clearos.

I've had good luck with Boge cartos. One comment on the Lavatube (applies to all VV) is that LR cartos are no longer necessary. They exist only to warm up the vape on fixed voltage PVs. They draw more amps/current and will hit your battery harder. They don't help on VV, just use SR cartos, and turn it up/down as desired. They will perform just fine, but may as well use SR and get longer battery life.

Liberty Flights' Riva was how I quit smoking. Great vendor, and one of the few that can take Paypal (since they are based in UK, thought they have offices in California).

I've had the exactly same problem, and also had to use a toothpick. When this happends they dont work well at all,and keep them a couple of days at most.

I've never tried clearomizers, i think i will have to order a couple of those to try out.

All my flooding/vacuum/pressure-related tank issues disappeared once I got an inexpensive tank filler tool (from Phiniac, but other sites sell them as well). I can add juice without removing a tank cap, and replace cartos without the possibility of damaging o-rings. Keeping the system closed is key, apparently. The tool only costs a few bucks, but is worth a lot more, IMO.

Thank you! I saw/read a few reviews on the vivi nova and ended up ordering a set with some extra heads.
I guess you cant flood these aslong as you fill down the side and the juice draws through the wick?

I filled another mega dual carto and it works better than the first one.

I know the op has bought a VN, and its a great tank! However my wife stubbornly sticks to her DCC cartos and tanks I got her back in November last year.

I've found the best way for me to avoid hearing, " it tastes burnt" or "it's spitting at me" is the following.

For a new carto.
Fill up the tank first. The place the carto over an empty bottle with the nozzle off and literally flood the crap out of it around the sides not the air hole till the liquid is dripping regularly into the empty bottle. Wait a couple of minutes then, GENTLY, blow into the mouth piece end into the bottle until you don't hear gurgling from the carto, it will take a bit.

For her used cartos
She uses a mixture of Mrs T's red hot cinnamon, strong menthol and madvapes 100% flavorless vg. Every other refill I GENTLY. Push a straightened paper clip through the air hole in the carto from the battery end. I run it up and down a few times and wipe off the paperclip in between. Imagine using a bottle cleaner, as long as the tip of the paper clip stays above the filler you can do this fairly vigorously and rock the paper clip side to side as well.

Then I fill the tank and place the tank over the empty bottle I have for her excess juice from this procedure. I drip a few drops at a time around the edges until it starts to drip from the other end into the bottle. Then blow Gently into the mouth piece end until I don't hear any gurgling.

Since I've started doing this she has had zero complaints and her cartos last about 2 weeks. I could probably stretch this out longer but why? These things only cost about 2-3 dollars each and a fresh carto tastes the best.
