Problems with my new Smoktech SID

Hi everyone, desperately in need of help here.

I just received my new Smoktech SID, I'm using a button top UltraFire 3000mAh, 18650 battery in it. (I've tried 2 of these).

When i read the voltage on the battery it says 4.2v which I think means fully charged. When I turn on the unit, it works fine and I can change the VV/VW function and scroll through the menu fine. But when I put a clearomiser on it (tried everything I own from Vivi Novas to iClear 16s), it seems to short out and won't fire and then the unit shuts down completely. I then have to take the battery out and pop it back in again, and the same thing happens. I haven't had 1 puff on the thing yet.

Bad battery? Or a mod I have to return? Please help!

I have a SID and I tested it with a 1.5 ohm clearo at 6v and it fired. Since this mod doesn't check the resistance to voltage and shutdown if the voltage is too high, I would say you got a bad mod. Some vendors will give a 7+ day warranty, I would contact the vendor ASAP. Even it the vendor doesn't have a warranty they should send you a replacement.

As tmcase said, check with the vendor and see if they'll do anything.

Otherwise, is it possible that the center pin on the 510 connector isn't making contact? I've had that issue before on a few mods, my Silver Bullet had that problem when I got it. It worked with a bunch of things, but the ViVi Nova that I had just wouldn't fire...but it would fire on everything else. I contacted the vendor, mailed it to them, they replaced the 510 connector and I had it back within a week. All I had to pay was shipping to them.

If you happen to have a 510-to-510 adapter, you could try putting that in the middle and see if that solves the problem or not.
