OK, so I've been using my Origen V2 for about 2 weeks now and haven't had a problem. I was using a Maraxus clone and Efest V1 2250mAh batteries (rated for 18A continuous discharge, I've had these batteries ~ 8 months so probably a good bit of wear on 'em). The firing button on the Maraxus was starting to heat up and the way they built the switch you can't take it apart to clean it so I figured it was time to upgrade. Picked up a black copper Stingray clone (Infinite) and a VTC5 battery while I was at it. Now when I take hits more than 1-2 seconds the middle of the coils start glowing. I understand it's probably the better mod / battery giving more power to the coils. The thing is, I've re-wicked it maybe half a dozen times trying different methods with no luck getting this to go away. I've used both cotton and rayon, from barely enough to touch the sides of the coil to stuffing it in (rayon, not cotton) and barely being able to pull it through without messing up the coil.

The coils are 8 wraps of 26g around a 14g needle. I like the vape I get at .4-.5Ω, so would prefer to stay in that range. Would increasing the coil diameter help keep this from happening? Or do I need to up the resistance to compensate for the increased power being delivered from what I'm used to? Thanks in advance :)

the difference in "power" going from the battery to the attomizer in your maraxus vs the stingray should be minimal. If you're getting red while wicked and juiced up then your wicking needs adjustment. If it's too thick the juice is going to stop at the edge of the coil and never get to the center of it where it will glow red. If there is too little cotton the same thing will happen or the entire coil will glow red when fired..

That's the thing, I can literally take my atty off the stingray/vtc5 and put it on my maraxus/efest and I don't have that problem. Both batteries are in the 4.1-4.2v range, practically fresh off the charger only used 'em for test firing and a few extra hits on the VTC5 before I noticed the problem. The minute it goes back on the Stingray, it does it again. I've tried my normal wicking methods and using more/less with 2 different materials and it keeps happening. Just rebuilt the coil to 10 wraps so it's now .55Ω and not having that problem and getting the same vape (Little more flavor actually, same clouds) so that's why I'm curious if upping my coil diameter would help. Probably should stop being lazy and just try it but I have a limited supply of rayon (someone from here sent me ~2' to sample, trying to make that last as long as I can before pulling the trigger on a box) and would rather not spend it working out something trivial like this :p

your maraxus (clone or not) really should have a switch that can be disassembled.

see if that helps to figure out how to pull it apart. , if not sorry for getting hopes up... just doesn't make any sense to me that that mod wouldn't let you take apart the switch to clean it.. Never heard of a clone of it with a press fit anything.

Coil diameter should be fine as is. How's the airflow? Insufficient airflow can create issues, also coil placement. If these are good, and no shorting is going on then, and if you know your wicking is good, I would go for slightly more wick coverage. This might require you to increase wire gauge.

Stock airflow on the Origen, I have it set to the biggest holes. I think it's 2mm? Air holes are placed directly in front of the coils of course. Not 100% on the wicking since I've only learned from my experiences... But when I first started RBA's (probably the first month or so) I was rebuilding my atty 3-4x a day trying different things figuring out what worked best for me and most of that was fiddling with cotton wick. I'll have to pick up some 24g and try that out, or just wait til my magma gets here from fasttech (ordered 7-8 weeks ago >.>) so I can go back to horizontal coils.

It really should, but it's missing those two holes. I drilled my own when the problem first started and put two drill bits in them to give me some leverage to unscrew the derlin part, but it wasn't budging. Short of cutting it out I really don't know what to do... So I just got a new mod :p Won't order another mech clone from 88evapes tho, they're cheap and USA based but that's a pretty bad design flaw...

Not to familiar with the origen but 2mm seems sufficient enough. So this coil issue is with vertical coil? Anyways, like you said you can try the 24g which will give you more wick coverage but if you have thinner wires, you can try some twisted. Maybe try some twisted 28g or 30g, something that may equal the 24g that you don't have yet. One more thing which may or may not help is to move the coil outwards as close as possible to the attys edge which gets it closer to air hole.

for me it sounds that you are choking the wick I'm not sure what diameter is that needle but when I went down for the first time to .4 ohms I got the same with 1.5mm ID, went up to 2mm and it solved the problem.

I guess your panzer had a huge volt drop so you didn't have this problem, lets say that with that v-drop your coils where behaving like a .7ohm son that ID was ok but not anymore
