Alright guys I got a stillare clone on a panzer clone using a sony vtc5, and I just can't seem to make this thing work really good. I had decent luck with a dual coil twisted 28g at 6 wraps I believe, but my buddy was running his stillare with 6 wraps 26g paralell on each, and it threw clouds. So I took the time to build that setup, got everything firing nice and evenly, and I get everything set up properly, and it was nothing short of disappointing. Low vapor production and acquired a pretty nasty burnt taste not very long into it. It's running somewhere around .3-.4 ohms, but it's extremely slow to heat, and the heat lingers forever. I can take maybe 3 or 4 good vapes and the stillare is almost too hot to even touch. And takes a good 5 minutes to cool down. I liked the 28g twisted, but it was such a short coil I had to constantly replace the cotton because it would burn it in one little spot. The 26g paralell has damn near twice the surface area

It sounds like you're choking the wick in the coil. Too much cotton leads to dry hits. If you can push the wick through from one side, too little cotton, if you can't pull it through fairly easily(slight resistance but not enough to move the coil) there's too much cotton. Also check your positioning of the coils with the air holes, you want as much direct airflow on the coils as possible.
You may be right about me having too much cotton in it. I didn't think of that. But what would cause it to struggle to heat up so much? My twisted 28g had near Instant heat, however not very even. I have this setup firing much more even, but it takes like twice as long to heat up with no cotton in it, and then when it's all wicked and juiced, it feels like it's hardly heating at all. I've taken the entire panzer apart, cleaned all the contacts, swapped in a fully charged battery, and it just feels extremely weak
Thicker wire takes longer to heat up, but once it's hot it stays hot longer, so maybe try slightly longer pulls? Or a "primer" pull? I don't use anything lower than 28 so I won't be much help on that end. Was your friend running his on a mechanical too, or a high watt mod?
I'll re wick it in a little while once I get home and see if that solves some problems. Nothing's worse than taking a hard pull only to get nothing but burn
There's some info missing from your buddy's setup. Is your air flow as big as his?
If you want less heat retention and faster heat up at .3- .4 , I would run parallel 30g to .4 ohms. I bet it will out blow his second for second. If his is .3-.4 26. Parallel 26 at .3-.4 is a lot of wire and it will retain a lot of heat. More air flow and more air after you release the fire button will help cool it. You should let off the fire button a second before you finish your draw.

Re wicked it, and no more burnt taste. However vapor production is still low. And my buddy had the exact same setup. Out of the box stillare just like me. He currently has this build on a tobh with 3/8" air holes on a nemesis and it's insanity. Instant heat and stupid amounts of dense vapor. I don't need anything like that, but I loved his build on the stillare and can't seem

Can you post some pics of your build? Maybe we can help trouble shoot. Is your buddy running on a mech also?
Maybe it is the juice you're using? higher VG juice will give you adenser cloud, or did you tighten down the screws on the post properly? When I first got my stillare, had one coil glowing faster than the other and one coil tends to stay hot longer. Try checking your connection and maybe some pictures will help. The air holes on the stillare also need to be properly align with your coils and leaving space under the coils will help as you would want airflow around those coils.

What Panzer clone are you using? There are several different versions and some of them can have pretty significant voltage drop which would definitely hinder the performance. Pictures of your entire setup would help a lot.
My clones are both from tobeco, bought at the local vape shop. I think I have finally figured it out though. After looking at it and playing with the coils, I noticed I had one sitting farther towards the outside than the other, and I believe it was touching the top cap, and shorting to it which would explain why the stillare would get so hot. Took some needle nose and bent it in just a little bit, now it has much more vapor production, and far less lingering heat. I feel a little foolish it was something so obvious, but you live and learn. Thank you all for the tips and advice! Happy vaping
