Prodigy Issues: Need Help!

Okay so, me and my mom (ecf member GlindaW) both have Prodigys and love them dearly, but a week or two back my moms just up and stopped working.
At the time, I didn't have a multi-tester so I couldn't check to see where the issue was. We sent it back to puresmoker, Steve said it tested fine and that he had polished the brass for us... Awesome!

Anyway, a few days go by and *poof* moms Prodigy stops working again, this time I have a multi tester.

Test it, no problem, 6.5ish volts. Atty won't fire still.
Try a new atty, still won't fire.
Try a new atty AND the adapter from MY prodigy, tests fine, atty won't fire.
New batteries, atty and my adapter, tests fine, atty won't fire.

Take all of those examples and mix and match all the possibilities, I did it all, any variance of atty/battery/end cap/adapter and it still tested fine but NO atomizer will fire up on her switch.

Cleaned the threads really well, followed Casey's little checklist of possible problem solvers... nothing.

I'm really unsure as to what could be going wrong, because ALL logic tells me that this thing should be working but it's not...

Any ideas? Anyone?

I own a multi-tester, a soldering iron and a metric buttload of tools, so as long as you promise that it won't void my warranty then I'm not afraid of taking on any possible repairs. Something is very obviously wrong :-(

I had the same thing happen to me this morning. I started at the bottom and cleaned all the threaded connections and then used an eraser on everything from top to bottom. Bingo, problem solved. It doesn't take much resistance to drop the loaded voltage too low to vape.

I guess it doesn't really matter, I popped her adapter on to my prodigy and it worked fine.
There's no resistance issues, I swapped our switches around and it seems that it MUST be her switch. I put her switch in my battery housing/adapter/battery cap setup and it wouldn't work, my switch with all of her stuff works fine.

That just seems so strange since her switch is TESTING fine, but it won't fire up an atomizer.
*sigh* She went 2 weeks without her Prodigy and now I fear we're going to have to send it back because Steve initially found nothing wrong with it.

Bummer...

Yep, that's a bummer. I do use an eraser to clean the threads on everything. You could use a contact cleaner or even rubbing alcohol. But I was at work and didn't have any of that here so I used the eraser. Hope you get a quick resolution and get it back to vaping soon.

Your checking for continuity from end to end with the button pushed?
What's the ohm load end to end?
What's the ohm load across just the resistor?
Is the resistor really charred?

#1 Huh? I'm testing the DCV at the adapter. As that's all I know how to do.
#2 How do I test that?
#3 How do I test that?
#4 No, I doubt Steve would've sent it back if it were.

I may own a multi-tester and have some limited knowledge about what voltage translates to when it comes to PV's, but you assume I know much more than I do, haha, I had to do a google search just to figure out how to test the DC voltage.

Put a drop of vegetable oil on your finger and rub it on the threads on both ends of the prodigy. It is likely just a grounding issue and the oil will solve it.

sounds like you hit it with the switch. If it still isn't working now is the time to send it back to Steve. That is weird that you get a reading. hmmm.... I had a few issues with mine that just seemed to fix themselves. I still don't know what it was. I will be interested in seeing what this turns out to be.. keep us posted.. please.

Alright, I broke down and just opened a ticket with PureSmoker.
Thanks a ton to everyone who tried to help out, but I guess the switch is just screwed. It's weird, it actually reads at different voltages depending how hard I push the button. If I just push it like a normal person would, it gives one voltage, if it I force it down, it jumps up an entire volt. We're talking a jump from 6 to 7v on the multi-meter depending on whether or not I MUSCLE the button. (and I only muscled it to begin with because of the huge voltage disparity between the two prodigys with the same exact set of battieres, and the fact that the reading jumps around on hers unless I REALLY force that button down.. I'm glad I had a second one to test it against as a control or I might not have realized it)

I'm not certain what the issue is here since her tube/end cap/adapter assembly works with a different switch, even though the *presumably* dead switch actually gives a reading yet won't fire up an atomizer.
I could completely understand the fact that Steve missed these issues on the first go-around, apparently the ride on the mail truck made it work for a few days, lol.

I really hope my mom doesn't have to send her Prodigy back and then wait for it to get there and THEN be sent back again... She's not the only one who suffers, I have to deal with analog smoke and jealous glares when she's without her prodigy.

This proved to both of us that we need backups of EVERYTHING. Even with great engineering, some things are just bound to fail sooner or later.
