Not sure how long this post will stay here, But I called the FDA. They were all ready to take the anticipated tidal wave of angry vapers and B&M owners phone calls, However as of Friday only a hand full of owners and private citizens had called.

If this proposal in its current form gets traction then everyone that has a small shop that produces up to a few hundred mods a month, like sweet vapes, Zen, hanaz, jBox, bulli Box, billet box modz, etc, will have to pay a 2800$ application fee for every new design. eliquid vendors will have to do the same for every flavor they produce. I am not sure why there is not more "OUTRAGE"

There is not even a link to the proposal on the maiun pge of the ECF!?

The big players in the vaping industry could actually benefit from this. Small shops go out of business and FDA approval will give them more credibility. They have a few main products and $2800 is a drop in the bucket for each. $2800 could easily be recovered by the additional sale of a mere 60 MVP's.
Who do you think controls this site?

Anyway, do people really use these VV-VW flashlight mods for vaping?

I haven't picked over it with a fine toothed comb, but i'm left to believe with a slight modification to the verbiage used for these devices (specifically those that are only battery packs/tubes with no internal atty or juice carrying parts, ignoring those that do ie billetbox) there is basically no way they could ever hope to regulate mods themselves, let alone actually police it if they did.

You call them a '510 power pack' or whatever vague term and you're basically outside the scope of their laws, even if the product could 'theoretically' (wink wink) be used to power an atomizer therefore making it an e-cig.

Lets take mech mods as an example, there's literally 0 chance the government is going to be able to effectively regulate something that is essentially a flashlight without the bulb.

Most of us are waiting for the brain trust at CASAA to thoroughly comb through all 241 pages, then come up with the best way to respond. They'll finish their analysis on Monday, April 28, which is the actual release date of the proposed regulations.

Others who are fluent in Bureaucratese will also chime in next week.

I understand that there is little chance of enforcement being effective, but the threat...don't you think that will be enough?

Companies like provape and House of hybrids might be able to afford to "do things above board" but what about the up and cimming modders. small batch high end modders like hanaz, and sweet vapes or joe blow that wants to start making mods, so they run a couple of dozen and then sell them on the classies? they would be breaking the law.

P.S. Retired, that is B>S! there was no drug talk that I recall. BUT I do remember some reference about the people that run this board selling out to the big tobacco. Is that t=what you didn't want ppl to see?

Let me rephrase what I posted that got deleted in another way, you seriously don't believe that these new rules from the FDA could actually benefit anybody in the vaping community? These new rules are crazy bad and it's another way of the govt trying to dip their hands in our pockets because BIG TOBBACCO cried and complained that they are losing sales because we decided we wanted a healthier lifestyle but apparently our govt supports the use of REAL CIGS that kills people. And now our govt wants a piece of the action (money) and they know that us vapors are not going away.

He was referring to my statement and your right, their was no reference to an actual drug, it's was a common phrase that meant "your crazy" I said "your on _ _ _ _ _ but apparently he thought otherwise but whatever.

Flashlights?!? I'm thinking of marketing 510 portable hand warmers, particularly popular with hunters as they emit a slight cloud cover useful for camouflage. With an indirect firearm connection I should get plenty of help avoiding regulation.

Perhaps you've seen the Heat Ball from Germany?

The vaping community? No, I don't think so, it's a bad thing overall. We would benefit from some regulation if the FDA only served the people. I don't believe that's the case because the government really no longer responds to the will of the people.

I do think that the Big Vaping players like Innokin, Kangor, ect. may benefit in the same way that big tobacco would. Small businesses will be forced out of the market due to the overhead of dealing the the FDA, handing the market to the big few and limiting our choices. The big companies can handle the additional overhead and just pass the cost on to the customer, because there won't be any lower cost alternatives.

We like to think of the vaping industry as benevolent because we compare them to big tobacco and it's shady past. That's just not the case. It's an industry like any other that will do whatever is profitable. If smaller companies go out of business, it will be more profitable for the bigger ones. It's all about the bottom line, not what's best for the consumer.

I know this belongs in another forum but the users here have been around a while and are more likely to be objective, seasoned vapers. The FDA forum is where people go to complain and I would probably just be viewed as a troll.

...BUT I do remember some reference about the people that run this board selling out to the big tobacco...

That's not what I said at all, or even implied. I'll clarify.
This site has ties to the vaping industry and serves their interests as well. The vaping industry and community usually have the same interests and goals, but not always. You can't serve two masters.

With the prices they charge for a box with a pre made chip with a battery box and some wires/fuses they are gonna have a problem? they will just up the price.

Think the chines inbound 20/35 watt mass production mods incoming will kill them off more efficiently.

I'm kind of seeing a certain apathy and/or lack of knowledge among the vape stores around here (central Cali) in regards to the FDA situation. Went to a few different stores as part of my rounds and asked them what did they know about the FDA proposed regs and how did they feel about it. In general they thought the regs were good as it kept minors from purchasing and knew very little else. I didn't want to lead the conversation so I didn't put my two cents in (that will be another time in the future).

It makes me wonder if these shop owners realize the potential damaging nature if these regs go though. Maybe they feel they have a good couple of years of profit before they have to get out and shut down. I just hope there's a loud pro-vaping voice out there when the time comes to speak.

I believe in the worst case we are going to get a flashlight head with each new mod
so we are really buying flashlights with "changeable heads" like this one

Funny how all these years I'd hear from the left that we need to keep raising cigarette taxes to "save the children" and to "save lives"... when in reality, it was nothing more than a way to impose massive taxes on a large portion of the population to fund their pork projects, typically run by campaign donors. Seriously though... it's not like anyone ran to the defense of smokers and that made them an easy target, plus history has shown that people seem to love taxes as long as it's someone else paying them.

And the ultimate proof of this can be found here in California, where cities are banning Vaping in buildings and even in public like here in LA County, without a single bit of proof that there is any public health risk. What they saw was the cigarette taxes take a sharp downward trend because vaping is becoming so popular. If the cigarette taxes were actually about saving lives, they would be celebrating the fact that less people are smoking, not desperately trying to impose the same taxes on this great method of quitting cigarettes.

It's time to stop letting government single out groups they don't like so they can impose taxes, regardless of whether we approve of the activity or not. The more people stand by and do nothing as more and more people have illegal taxes imposed on them, it's only a matter of time before your rights are on the line. Do you think those people who you watched get screwed are going to come to your aid?
