Proper Wattage for a 0.4 Ohm Build

Hey folks, I'm new to the rebuilding game so I need some help. I have a Tugboat that has a .4 ohm dual coil build in it. What wattage do I need to run it at? I have a Hana V3. The cat at the local brick and mortar says 30 Watts, but every time I try to fire it, the battery dies out. What do I need to do for safety and optimum flavor?

To figure wattage it is simply (VoltagexVoltage)/resistance = wattage. So (4.2x4.2)/.4=44.1 watts. This is on a freshly charged battery with 0 voltage drop. Say voltage drop is .2 under load then it would be 40 watts.
But really it all depends on the wattage you prefer. Flavors change at higher wattages. 30 watts is good enough

Thats the problem though.....a fresh battery (purple Efest 18650) will not push it. The screen just goes blank.

Is this a hana clone? The 0.4 ohms might be pushing the amp limit of the chip.

Try using this calculator. The coil under unregulated firing would be firing at about 34 watts. That's a little hot in my book. I wouldn't run it over 20 watts.

The real deal doesn't want anything below a .5 ohm build. That's the problem. Build it at a higher resistance.

That's what I thought... The resistance is to low causing the chip to try to push amp limit but instead it just shuts off... Just rebuild with more wraps and aim for around .55 ohms or higher

I'm running a .4 at 35 watts but it all depends on the atomizer . I have a mephisto all open and it's nice a cool

I think you should a 2 more wraps per coil and get like .6-.8 at 30 watts to get the full potential of a dna 30

Just a FYI for you. If your purple Efest batteries are 2500mah they only 20A continuous, not 35A as printed on the wrapper.

An authentic evolv DNA 30 will not fire below .5 ohms. Build it at about 1-1.5 ohms. Then you can find where you like the performance. I'm running a 1.5 ohm build at 25w. That's 6 volts. Its outstanding. You don't need low ohms for big clouds and big flavor.

True, perhaps, but a DNA30 will never pull close to 20 amps.

So, I built another coil that is 0.7 ohms, but the Hana will still not push it consistently. I'm using 24 gauge kanthal, and with the 12 wraps I'm putting around a 10 gauge nail it is getting harder and harder to get the coils to fit inside the atty. If I get a heavier gauge kanthal, will that allow me to obtain higher ohms with the same number of wraps?

When im trying to save battery ill run my ipv2 as low as 2.7volts. Still chucks out clouds... just not as big or as warm. But I dont know much about the dna's

Yes. Example 9 wraps around a 1/16 drill bit of 28 gage makes a 1.5 ohm coil..
