Most prefer both - VG makes it a little thicker and sweeter, but seems to absorb flavor more. So some PG, some VG, some flavoring (I've seen alot of people like 40-50%PG, 30-40% PG, and about 20% flavoring).
If you're using unflavored nic juice, factor in your percentages based on what it is - PG or VG (typically PG, but it should say what it is).
I use both. My all-day vape is 12mg liquid. I start with 50% base nicotine PG based e-liquid, then cut it with 10-20% flavoring (flavor dependant), and finish it up with 30-40% VG.
You can use the e-liquid calculator that has been stickied in the DIY e-liquid section to find out how much of each ingredient to use, but even just straight VG as thick as it is, will vaporize.
My opinion is try one or the other. See what the effects are. Then decide. All the talk about allergies... bla Bla Bla..
Glycerine gives more vapor. But if it causes sinus problems, it isn't worth it.
