My drummer had an extra Protank 2 that he was not using, and kindly gifted it to me. I finally got around to trying it out, and MAN! I am shocked at the vapor production, even with the standard issue single coils.

Prior to this, I have been thoroughly enjoying my Protank Mini 3, although I started out with the original older-style dual coils that had the wicks coming out. The newer enclosed dual coils, while still pretty good, just don't seem to perform quite as well as the older coils did.

So I did a comparison. And it appears that the Protank 2 is producing as much (if not more) vapor than the Mini 3 is.

Huh?

Now, I am one year into vaping, and still have tons to learn. But wouldn't it make sense that a dual coil should produce more vapor than a single?

Hi again !!

I think it is personal opinion some say dual coils are great some prefer single coils. I suppose as well on what juice your using and what power you are putting through the coils and what ohm they are.

Me personally I prefer a single micro coil with cotton either horizontal or vertical.

There are lots of threads with people's opinions on here on what is better. I do believe dual coils will use more juice and drain your battery quicker

Hiya again, Leekey! The Protank 2 has a 2.2 ohm coil in it, and the Mini 3 has a 1.8 ohm coil. I am using a Vision Spinner 1300 mah set at 4.8 volts for both.

I guess if I can produce just as much vapor, while conserving juice and battery life (do I have that correct?), that would be more to my liking methinks.

After a few days using a dual coil I realised that I was using more juice and the battery didn't last as long so I ripped it out and built a single micro coil with Japanese cotton for the wick and in my opinion it was better than the dual coil and saves juice and battery

No brainier really

In fact, I am already seeing a difference in juice consumption between the Protank 2 and the Mini 3. With the Mini 3, I could almost see the level of liquid dropping. The Protank 2, however, seems to be more conservative in burning juice. Maybe it's an illusion, since the Protank 2 is twice the size of the Mini. But it seems to be the case, at any rate.

I have both and the P3 is a juice hog. The P3 is better for me though as I use a sweet juice and the dual coil does not turn the juice dark, even at the end of the tank, like the P2 does. There is better heat distribution in the P3. I make my own juice, so cost is not really a thing for me.

What I think produces the best vapor is putting an Aerotank mini airflow controller on a mini Protank 2.5. For a normal size Protank I use the Aerotank V2 air controller. No gurgling or flooding, just great vapor. But I love the enclosed dual coils; they last longer for me. I buy the 1.8.
