I've always used the cheapest vodka (nobody drinks that!) and stuck all parts in an ultrasonic cleaner I got from Harbor Freight Tools. Run it twice (3 minute cycles) and your stuff comes out sparkling clean. Some folks swear by distilled water instead of vodka, but I get great results...so I haven't tried it yet.

I don't use a Protank mini, so I'm not sure if the tank is plastic or glass. But, if plastic, you might be using juices that are known to fog up plastic. something like cinnamon or fruit based with loads of acid.

I'm a tattoo artist so I have a few ultrasonic's laying around I don't use anymore since transitioning to 99% disposable. I might have to give that a shot.

Is it a Kanger Mini Protank or a knock off? some cheap knockoffs use a polycarbonate tank so the plastic may be etched with a citrus, cola or cinnamon eliquid

I will rinse my tanks out with hot tap water - maybe give them 8 minutes in the Ultrasonic (with tap water again) if I am feeling OCD - and if I want to clear any possibility of a flavor I will give them a quick rinse in cheap vodka and then rinse out again with tap water

I used to smoke and never sterilized my cigarettes and the FDA allows a certain of amount of insects and feces contamination in most foods and their prep.

There is no reason to leave anything in alcohol for more than a few seconds to kill any germs on it IMHO.

I've used it with the Mini ProTank. Just unscrew the center post so the glass looks like a cup.

What MysticalNyte said. If its a real Kanger Mini The center post is threaded and both ends unscrew leaving with just a cylinder of Pyrex.

I dont take mine apart too often, I use a hair dryer to dry the inside.
