I have recently entered the world of "glassomizers" and I am having some issues. I am using the Protank coils on the protank and the Puritank. I seem to be getting a burnt/harsh taste with so many of them, like they are not wicking or something when I first put them in. The problems seems to be especially bad with the Puritank. Am I doing something wrong? I never had these issues with Vivi Novas. Thanks for your help. JD

try removing one of the flavor wicks on top of the coils, or replace them with one 2mm wick. I use the 1, 2mm wick and it seems to work well with out overly flooding the coils. also, idk if you do this already but, try and give it a couple minutes of soak time.

also after i clean my protank, i always do a couple of dry burns to get the old flavor out. once i can't smell the old flavor i prime the coil and wicks with juice i'm gonna use, a couple drops, and it works great.

I normally use 50/50 juices. Normally 9 watts on my Vamo, and 4.8-5v on my SLB V2. The main burnt/harshness issue seems to be when I first put them in. It's like they never properly wick or something. I use a variety of juices from Halo to HHV. Surely it's something I'm doing or not doing. I can't believe that this many of the coils are bad. JD

Really depends on the juice. If you use high PG, removing the flavor wick will cause all sorts of problems like both flooding and leaking. If your vaping custard, or whatever Phil Busardo is vaping, you have to remove them, because they won't wick. Haven't heard yet what the OP is even vaping yet. Just sayin'.

The problem is your wattage. A lot of juices start to die at 7 watts and 8 is pushing it. 50/50 should work fine in your setup. Also, unless you're vaping pure sugar (caramelizing), the heat is probably carbonizing your wicks. Not only do you get poor flavor, but you'll also get more leaking and flooding. Lower the watts, clean more often, change coils more frequently. That should solve your problem.

I replace my flavor wicks with 2mm cotton and have no trouble at all.
I vape Bobas Bounty (very thick) at 4.5v on a ProVari.

Yeah, I rewick with cotton all the time. You just can't dry-burn the coil, making it tougher to get the gunk (carbonization) off. What we get on the Forum is the complete removal of the flavor wicks (a lot), as if the flavor wicks are there by accident, which is not the case. Yeppers...do like my cotton too.
