Protank DBC vs Nautilus BVC (juice usage)

First of all, this is indeed my first post. I've been using the forums as a sort of vaping bible and so far have been extremely happy with my progress. After starting my vaping journey almost 2 months ago with a not-so-great starter kit I've moved up in the world (mainly thanks to these forums) and found myself in a place amongst the clouds that I am enjoying immensely. Over a month tobacco free and not looking back in the slightest. So thanks for that ecf. :toast:

Now that the intro is out of the way, on to the question. I know this is probably somewhere in the forums, but I'd rather have a discussion about it that I can participate in and as I said, I'm new here so my forums (pun intended) are limited. My current set up is a Protank 3 with enclosed dual coils (1.8ohm), a 1st gen airflow control, sitting on an MVP 2. I LOVE this setup. Great clouds, great flavor, and has yet to give me a single problem after close to three weeks of usage. My only issue is the dual coils seriously BURN through my juice. Thus the title.

I've heard a ton about these Nautilus bottom vertical coils and am wondering how they compare to the Protank coils in terms of liquid usage. I've read reviews saying that they suck down the juice, but since it's just the one coil I would assume that it would be nicer to my tiny bottles of gold than my dual coils. If anyone has experience with both types of coils I would greatly appreciate some input.

And once again, a biiiiig thanks to the people here at ecf. For every newbie that registers at least a hundred more are lurking through forum posts absorbing your knowledge. You guys/gals rock! :thumb:

Hello and welcome to ECF

I own and use the Nautilus Mini BVC, Aerotank V2 BDC and Aerotank Mini BDC (mainly use Minis of both types) For me the Aerotanks might use a little more juice as it seems to run low faster when vaping on my Aerotank Mini... But this could be the fact the Aerotank Mini holds less juice than the Nautilus Mini... To me they are about even but if I had to pick one the Nautilus Mini really drinks up my juices. The BVC coils do seem to last much longer though.

I'm so confused now.

Thanks for the welcome Warpigs! My only problem with a tank like the PBC is I'm assuming there's no way to attach an airflow control to it and I've become more than just a little attached to being able to open wide up for lung hits or crank it down for mouth hits depending on my mood.

That's definitely a likely candidate for extra tanks to use for flavor testing though due to it's affordability. I appreciate the input!

This seems to be a lot of what I'm hearing about the BVC's. My problem is I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around how a single coil could burn up as much or more juice than a dual coil. If all the variables are the same between the two (voltage/wattage, juice, resistance) I would think the single coil would burn half as much juice. Maybe it's something to do with the wick in the BVC surrounding the coil instead of passing through it, I'm not sure.

Between the two minis which do you find yourself using the most? Like I said, I'm loving my Protank but these Nautilus reviews have gotten me considering jumping ship.

The math is easy, dual coils the coils heat up slower, and they have half the current running through them that a single coil at the same resistance and wattage would. So really there are just two factors, how much power you are using, and how efficient your coils are. As long as a single coil always has juice on it, and you put as much power through it, it should in theory produce just as much as two coils, with the same wattage.

To simplify further, I can put more watts through a BVC without a dry hit than any dual coil pre-built coil I have found. That alone means the BVC must be producing more vapor. That is just a BVC in a CE5, I imagine the Nautilus setup is better, especially with airflow control.
