protank head question: remove plastic?

I opened my first protank and set it up after cleaning it... when i installed the head, I removed the plastic cap over the wicks and have been getting monster vape hits with this... my question is simply, was I suppossd to leave that plastic cap on? if so, whats the purpose of that cap? thanks!

that's a little silicone ring cap thingy that makes a seal against the post that comes down. you can remove it, and it functions mostly the same. When you remove it it probably lets more juice get to the head, so that may be why you're getting move vapor, the down side is that it will probably also lead to some leaking, especially from the pressure difference when there's less juice in the tank.

If you're carrying it around or laying on it's side, juice will leak down into the airhole and probably start coming out on your battery or out of your drip tip. The silicon seal/cap inside clearos is meant to make a seal with the drip tip to keep that from happeing, but I've vaped w/out them before, too.

ok in that case I'll put it back on in the future. now im curious to see if theres any difference in draw/vape with it installed anyway

Flip it upside down. Best of both worlds. Doesn't impede wicking, seals the mouthpiece from the tank. I've done this with cotton rebuilds- gurgles a bit more often , but hasn't leaked and I get better results with thick stuff like bobas
