Should there be caps on these heads?

I ordered some 1.8ohm heads/wicks from a different vendor than my previous orders of same. Inserted one in a clean Vivi Nova tank yesterday to replace one that needs to be cleaned. These new heads have 2 long twisted wicks (so 4 wicks that go into the liquid). The wicks have what looks like a little plastic tip on the ends, that has a little hole at the end of it -- they look sort of like shoelaces with these plastic tips on the ends. And no white-ish plastic/vinyl CAP came with the heads. The heads I've been using have this type of cap on them that sits over the wick assembly.

My question is: should these heads have those plastic/vinyl caps on them? I put one on that I had sitting around, and it took a little fiddling to work it down over the head because it was slightly too small. Also, this "squishes" the upper portion of the wicking where it feeds into the head.

I'm getting some occasional hints of "dry hit" on my vape even though the tank is pretty full, and I'm wondering if the "squished wicks" could be the cause. But if no cap is supposed to be put on this head, how do I keep it from flooding?

on my vivi nova heads there is a plastic cap that fits over the center post through which a piece of metal is situated (not sure how to better explain it). I have never had wicks with little plastic tips on them like laces. Are they there maybe to keep the wicks from unraveling during shipping? I looked a a bunch of places where I get or know I can get vivi nova heads and none had pictures with tips on the end of the wicks, Not sure how laces like tips on the ends of the wicks would work with getting the wicks to work correctly. But yes there should be a tight fitting plastic cap over the top of the head centerpost, mine come already seated on the head.

Well, I trimmed off 2 of the "shoe lace" things but left the other 2. On the heads that I've BEEN using, the little cap comes down but does not cover any of the wick at all. Sits just above where the wicks go through the head. On this NEW head, when I forced a cap down on it, the cap covers the area where the wick goes through the head.

About an hour ago, I took the cap off this new head and so far the vape is fine, with no suggestion of dry hit. So I do think that putting a cap on this particular head is a bit of an issue because by pinching the upper part of the wick, I think it inhibits the wick from getting juice to the atomizer properly. If there are supposed to be caps, the one for this head would have to be shorter than what seems to be the norm so it will fit but not come down over the wick area.

My caps don't sit on the wick, just above it. The cap does serve a purpose in directing the vaper but I doubt it will hurt you being off although I would think some of what is atomized is just going into the tank. You should be able to place the cap on but not push it all the way down onto the wicks. Some of the caps I have been getting lately do go down over the wicks but they have openings in the plastic for the whisks to go through without the plastic sitting on them. On the heads that don't have caps like that the caps just sit above the wicks, even if there is a space between the top of the cap and the post top
