I didn't think these were going to be available "for a couple of months", but (supposedly) Hurricane Vapor - who I've never heard of - has them in stock (not a preorder): Kanger Protank Mini 2 v2 This was posted on GotSmok and I figured it might escape some people's attention. I ordered a couple, like 10 minutes ago, but I can't confirm if they are the real deal.
Ok, so I'm going to take a moment to vent a bit. The way things get 'rolled out' in the ecig world makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Rule #1 in online purchasing/scam avoidance is that you buy from 'reputable' vendors, but this will make the 2nd time in a month that a popular new product has been introduced to the market via a small, relatively unknown (the first being the MVP2). Now, it is possible that HV is simply unknown by me and is somehow widely known and popular by everyone else ...but there is nothing on their website that seems to be older than July '13, very little on Google older than May '13, and while they do seem to be known here on ECF (as a juice vendor), nothing prior to Aug '13. It is certainly a veritable windfall for HV, but if it weren't for GotSmok (or VaporJoes as I'm sure he'll pick this up quickly), I - and I'm sure hundreds of others - would never even know about them. I actually tend to be a little riskier in purchasing from smaller businesses on the internet, but I know A LOT of people aren't like that. Clearly, they are a start-up (or, in this case, a take-over as it does appear as though the company was started by two other guys and is recently run by a husband/wife team) and I have no problems with start-ups, but from a security standpoint, a "start-up" and a "fake" look a lot alike until you do the research.
Security issues aside, for Kangertech to decide to make initial availability of major product like the PT Mini 2 (v2 with the removable tip) to a start-up makes absolutely no sense to me. I get that online marketing/merchandising is different than offline marketing/merchandising, and I have absolutely nothing against Hurricane Vapor, but it seems to me if you want to maximize your sales/market of a new, in-demand hardware product, you don't break out in Mom & Pops Juice Shop.
