Protected batteries in series?

Can protected batteries be placed in series to up the voltage or are they only good in parallel?

Or can they only be used individually?

The reason I ask is that I have this LED flashlight that could probably be modified to a PV. It has a battery pack that holds 3 aaa's.

Those batts don't seem to like standard Joye 510 atties though.

With a little work you should be able to use two 10440's in two of the slots. The empty slot will need a wire soldered in from the + to the -, or anything you can think of to do the job.

That is what I was looking for. I want to try to do a higher voltage but didn't know if it would damage the batteries.

A little reading on high voltage mods (might be a few around this forum ) generally advise against using UNprotected Li-ion cells in serries.

I guess stacking protected cells would be how they do it.
