Hmmm.... Interesting....

I think one of these may fit in the box:

IMR26650 Specifications: Nominal Voltage : 3.7V
Capacity : 4000mAH
Lowest Discharge Voltage : 2.50V
Standard Charge : CC/CV ( max. charging rate 5A )
Cycle Life : > 500 cycles
Max. continuous discharge rate : 10A
Operating Discharge Temperature : -10 - 60 Degree Celsius
Size : 26.18mm (1.03") x 65.33 mm (2.57") +/- .05mm

I wonder if they make a protected version?......:p

Well they do make protected 26650 Li-Ions. Might be interesting to try one.

The IMRs will never come with a protection circuit. Rocket tends to be quite safety conscious and adds them.

Here's a 3" RS box with an IMR26650 in it. Takes a bit of work to prepare the box. It ain't no plug&play thing.

AH-HA! so one will fit!

Ok that is the same project box I have right now, I see you gutted the entire box closure posts and all.
How do you keep the cover on?

And is that a built in charge cable connection I see in that box?
