Protege question.....

Just wondering,
If I have the protege with the mechanical switch, will it last along time?
Not considering the batteries or atomizers.

What the question is....
If I have enough batteries and atomizers do I need a back up protege? (taking into consideration I don't loose it)

I think you would be just fine with the 1 protege using the mech switch..

I always keep several mods of different makers around..

My Chuck is a workhorse you can always count on..

The rule as I see it:
Always have plenty of backups.
Attys, batteries, juice and youre set to go!

To answer your question "No" you do not need another protege... (not that I disagree with the other posts as I sit here and count 10 mods sitting on my desk).

I say that because anything that can go wrong with a mech. switch can be fixed / replaced @ home.

To tell you the truth the only thing i can think of that can fail is the spring and all you would need is a ball point pen spring to fix it.

all I have is a protege. I don't have a backup currently.
i upgraded to the new switch, but I've never had any issues with the unit itself.

I do have a backup charger though. (yes....I do charge 4 14500 batts at a time, I vape like that)


But I did buy a joye510 PT...... should be here in a week or 2. (not a great backup but it was cheap)

Just get the protege intending it to be your only unit....like most people on the forums...you'll wake up one day with 10 different mods!! LOL

EDIT: the switch has lifetime warranty. the protege is simple, not much to go wrong...I love it.

personally i think batterys, attys, and juice are more of a concern over the protege. but a backup PV is a good idea always.

Definitely have a backup device! If you should experience any tech issues, they may take time to resolve; and if you need to send your device back to PS for warranty/troubleshooting work, what then?

I'd suggest just getting some batteries to work with whatever atomizer you're using, e.g. 901, 510.

That's one of the things I really like about the Protege (and other similar mods), if there is ever the need I can just grab one of the many 510 batteries I have lying around, not that I've had the need. I tried just for kicks, and it was pretty wimpy feeling, but it will work if I need it to.

I also like that it really is a very simple and well designed device, there is very little to go wrong, at worst I could see myself dropping it and breaking the switch, but that is easily replaceable. This is my first mod, and I'm loving it.

I couldn't agree more. You just never know if a mishap will occur, such as loss, theft, or breakage from a fall. (Even though I have dropped my Protege in the garage on concrete a few times. It's still working like a champ, but I don't want to press my luck.) So it's better to have at least one backup device, at least to hold you until you get a replacement/repair for your Protege.
