I was looking into getting one of these as well, or the Chuck purely for the customization. Hopefully you and GrimGreen come back in a couple weeks with another updated review.

yeah , just as an FYI i had to send my Protege' back to puresmoker yesterday 8-o so my follow up wont be for a while

but i will say even after 9+ hours on the protege battery (with a 510) i did not notice a significant drop in vapor at all. I really does hold that "fresh off the charger" feeling for a much longer time period... also it is a damn juice hog.

Tell me about it, I am going through double the juice with the protege.

My button gave me grief also. Had to send it back for repairs. But I really miss it. I was reaching for it most of all and I have the Prodigy and Silver Bullet. That tiny little Protege was and is an excellent device, it reminds me of a good zippo lighter.

If the button is an issue, looks like Steve over there at PS knows and is addressing it, plus I also like how long the warrenty is on this device, settles it with me, time to save up and get one of those bad boys!

I have a Prodigy, at 5V, were i like the vapor and all, dripping all the time kinda gets to be a pain sometimes, plus it likes to melt carts. I'm thinking about cutting my carts back to correct that problem. So I'm thinking the 3.7V option might be the way to go so that I don't have to drip ALL the time.

I do like the 510 at 5v, but your right it is a juice hog! One of the best things about the 510 is that it gives a serious vape at 3.7 volts on a good battery. The 510 was my first pv, and I had written it off for a long time, until I tried it on an 18650 bat mod I made.

My goto PV right now is a 3.7v Prodigy w/18650 and the Protege, both with 510 atomizer. I still have a 5v prodigy that get's a lot of use however, mostly with 801 and 901 attys though.

Did anyone make a review of the protege on an 801 atomizer? Something tells me that it should be very interesting and that the 801 might here, give unexpected results at 3.7 volts.

I am interested too. I would most like to see the 302 atomizer used together with a good cartridge.

Vapor from an 801 with stock battery needs to be warmer and I'm hoping the Protege will make a noticeable difference.

Protege won't help the 801 over a stock battery. Both are running at the same voltage. The only difference is that a larger battery on a mod will give you peak performance for a longer time.

Well exactly, and this is quite interesting.

If the Protege can give you constant peak performance (which is very nice on a an 801) for a longer time, this will make the 801 more pleasant and even more practical for a constant daily use...Ad to it the fancy style of the Protege compared to the quite ugly look of the usual 801 battery.

IMHO, this might be a new chapter for the 801 lovers...That if there is not more to discover...I don't know why, but i feel that there might be something worth trying here...Don't you think?

Same voltage, agreed, but wouldn't the larger battery supply more amperage? That would mean more power to the coil, thus more heat output.

I suppose this would depend on the "C" factor, which is listed for the 14500 battery but I don't know what it is for the stock batt.

Yes, that is exactly what happens. I explain this whole concept in post #16 of this thread.

Ok, then let me try to recapitulate few things here,

If I'm not mistaken, the 801 is already famous for great vapor production, great flavor restitution, and high capacity cartridge (that hopefully would be modded soon to fit drippers requirements)

Now, if we enhance that with:

-Warmer vapor.
-Higher amperage than conventional battery, resulting in better vaping ( Like bigger throat hit for example)
-constant peak performance for a longer time.
-Higher battery autonomy.
-Better look (more fancy and stylish finish)
-Better overall practicability.

If the Protege can indeed give all that, then it might very well make the 801 the superstar of 3.7 volts vaping.

Much like the Prodigy revealed the 801 at 6 volts.

Doesn't it sound logical or am I missing something here?
