Congrats on the two months tobacco free, I was nervous as could be about rebuildable. Then I bought the Phoenix v5, although not a high end dripper it is easy to work with, plenty of room for coils/wicks and best of all it is cheap to buy. Bought some ekowool and 28g wire, watched the guys at Altsmoke build me a couple and then went at it myself. Now you have a tool that reads the ohms of the coil and you can go from there. I am wondering now what to do with all of my carto tanks. Dripping is delicious.

In a pm, you mentioned your Altsmokes B&M. It must be nice having a quality knowledgeable shop in the neighborhood. There's nothing anywhere near me. I took a look at their website and saw they are planning to open one in NYC. The date and place are not yet known. But, it'll be nice since I visit NYC regularly.

Yes, I am very very fortunate to have such a knowledge base of people who are there to sell you stuff but most importantly they want to teach. I have been in there many times where I haven't spent a penny but can still pick the brains of the very experienced vapers. Free pizza and drinks Saturday are always a hit. People walk through the door and hear " welcome to Altsmoke, would you like some pizza and a soda? It's on the house" makes you feel like family.

Haven't heard much about the NYC store and what I have heard is in confidence. No eta on opening. Not sure how the proposed regs ( no vaping indoors )the mayor is pushing will impact them.

I took the advice given here, and picked up a protank2 on Saturday. It definitely upped my vaping experience on the Darwin from the cartomizers and attys that I was currently using. I plan on buying some higher quality rebuildable drippers and atty tanks very soon, but for the meantime, the protank2 is getting the job done much better than what I was using before. This setup will definitely make the wait for my Poto Vapor XPV much easier.

Here is a shot of my Darwin made by Evolv with the Protank2 mounted on it. It is using the original and first ever variable wattage technology used for e-cigarettes which was made by Evolv (inventor and producer of the DNA20 chip)...

The Protank 2 is a good topper, and can be rebuilt if you really want to.

Man your Darwin is clean!

My poor Darwin is in a pretty sad state at the moment, in pieces, screen broken and de-soldered from the board, USB charge circuit fried, button needs replacing, case is pretty beaten up.

I will have to take some pictures and post em just for fun :)

I was planning on building it's guts into some kind of custom mod, but I am kinda thinking I want to restore it.

I wonder if Brandon at evolv would sell me just a screen that I could solder in myself, I already was thinking about changing the usb charge plug to a micro usb....

I am also curious about this supposed upgrade for Darwins that has been hinted at...

I was really enjoying my pro tanks as well. One morning I loaded up 3 ( 1x pt1 & 2x pt2 )with brand new heads, fresh liquids and put them in my kit for work one morning. All was good for a couple of hours and then dry hits started, changed for another tank and the same so I went to my last remaining tank and was able to get a few good hits then dry. Messed with flavor wicks a bit and still nothing. I was I. Panic mode the rest of the day scavenging for a good draw. Not fun as I was still on 12mg and running through 2tanks a day.

Came home cleaned them out and never picked one up again. Couldn't risk the helpless feeling again.

The USPS actually did their job in a timely manner, and the mini XPV arrived today. I really like the form factor – very comfortable in hand, and the size is perfect for carrying around. The fit and finish is as good as it is on the full size XPV, which is to say excellent.

It also comes with the same mini manual as the full size one. There’s useful info in it, but I appreciate it more from the standpoint that, to me, it shows that Protovapor takes pride in their device and want to make a good impression right from the start.

It comes with six pliths (sp?) since I opted for the ego connector. Three are bright chrome; three are a gray finish. All look quite nice on the XPV. I’ll post some pics when I get a chance.

Sometimes I’m a bit let down when I get a new mod in that the reality of the device doesn't match the anticipation. Not the case with the XPV. It’s exactly what I was looking for in a DNA-20 device.

Saweet!

Yea I couldn't be happier with my XPV, and ProtoVapor's service in general.

In other mini DNA news, I got my Christmas present in today, and its a VaporShark DNA woooo!

Don't wanna go to far off topic, but yea this thing is tiny, ity-bity, all in all it looks and feels nice, but the USB port is a little ....-eyed (crooked), though seems solid.

So now I have my full size XPV beast mod, and a nice little stealthy DNA package as well.

We will see how the VaporShark holds up, something tells me it won't last as long as the XPV, and if that is the case, then an XPV mini will certainly be my go to purchase for a stealthy DNA setup.

What tipped me over to the vapor shark for a stealthy mini DNA, was that it had a slightly higher capacity cell, and an over all slightly smaller size.

My next gear purchase will be around tax time probably, and will probably be another full size XPV, or maybe a REO just to fill my curiosity...

I dunno though, the convienince and quality of vape off a DNA device is so good, any time I think of a getting a mech again, I have a vape and pretty much talk myself out of it.

Jameth – congrats on the Vapor Shark! Look forward to hearing your thoughts on how it compares with the XPV once you’ve had some time with it.

Lots to like about the Reo as a device, and Rob (owner of Reosmods) is one of the nicest guys you’ll ever come across. My Reo was my faithful traveling companion since the size and the fact that it was a bottom feeder made it perfect for that task. Plus, you just gotta love a mod that you can wash under running water (after taking out the battery, of course). But I got spoiled by regulated devices, and sold the Reo a few months ago since I just wasn't using it much. Still like and use mechs, but the Reo was replaced by an MPV. Now the MPV is running backup duty in the car in favor of the XPV.

I will say a little more on the VaporShark DNA in the next couple days, but so far I really quite like it, feels great in hand, seems like the battery will just about perfectly get me through a day of vaping if I had to.

But mostly I just wanted to say I got an ultrasonic cleaner last night, and WOW! If you don't have one, get one now, I never in a million years thought plain tap water could strip the paint off of an EVOD, but with this thing at full power for 12 mins did just that, WOW!

Also got a full size clear tank for my KFL, it is beautiful!

Enlighten me: what does one do with an ultrasonic cleaner, and would you share a link to one so I can see the specs and costs?

[With apologies to Jameth for jumping in on a question for him]

I used to use mine a lot for cleaning clearo heads before I started rebuilding them. Running them through the ultrasonic with vodka (instead of water) got rid of even the most stubborn flavors. Also great for cleaning dripping atomizers.

Some people use them with warm water to speed steep juices. I’ve never tried that (I let my DIY juices steep by just leaving them alone) but some swear by it as an ultra fast steeping method.

I don’t use the ultrasonic for vaping tasks much at all any longer, but it is fantastic for cleaning things such as jewelry and electric shaver heads.

This is the one I have: Amazon.com : Ultrasonic Jewelry Eyeglass and Lens Cleaner : Jewelry Cleaning And Care Products : Electronics

Got it used from the Amazon Warehouse for about $12.

Yea an ultrasonic cleaner is just what it sounds like, good way to clean the hell out of every possible nook and cranny of your attys and stuff.

With these rebuildable tanks, there are lots of little crevices and stuff that are just plain hard to keep clean as juice tends to get gummed up in the small orifices over time.

I pretty much plan on throwing my rebuildables in there for 10 mins before each re-coiling, which is not very often for me. That way any time they are re-coiled, they are also cleaner then when they were delivered to me brand new.

In addition, any new purchases I get will probably go through a cleaning as well, tired of finding metal shavings and machine oil on brand new stuff.

I had a $50 gift card to amazon, so I tried to find one as close to that as I could, and ended up with this one;

Amazon.com: Ivation IVUC96S Digital Ultrasonic Cleaner with Adjustable Power, Removable 17-ounce Stainless Steel Wide Tank, Jewelry Basket, Watch & Earring Holder, CD DVD Stand, 5 Individual Cleaning Cycles & Auto-Shut-off - Generates 42,000 Ultra So

It has 3 power level settings, and 5 different timer settings.

I have a feeling this thing will end up being used for all kinds of things, not just ecig stuff, I think it will be quite handy.
