I love the full black colored XPV I think it looks 100% sharper than my grey and black trim.I think I shall have to go after a complete black device now for my back up.

Looks sweet, wish I had the scratch for a black kayfun type thing. That would rock so hard it hurts.

I just saw the connector on fatdaddyvapes site and it looks like it comes with the 22mm base which looks like it will go over the edges of the XPV or at least set over top of the four screws??

At least every topper would look and set flush mount on the device?? I wonder how much they will charge for this upgrade,if it's in the $15 range it will be worth every penny.

Sooo Rossum; what are your thoughts on this? My full black XPV from Jan '14 is working fine with the original 510 but a floating pin option is sure to allow all atties moving forward to work?
Yeah, my full black from January is also working fine. But I still like the idea of a floating 510.

What do you think the voltage drop is regarding a fixed center pin vs. a floating one?
Good question; I suppose that depends on how much current you're pushing through it. :D

I had read somewhere that the center pin in the KFL could be sheared if one wasn't careful?
I have not tried to adjust mine.

The device is 24 x 24 mm, so that makes the length from corner to corner 34mm. I looked at a picture of the top, and knowing the measurements of the device I figured the screw heads to be around 4.5mm or so which leaves clearance for a 22mm base.

Besides, from the videos I've seen on YouTube, it doesn't look like 22mm attys have trouble hitting the screws.

Well, it ain't a Fat Daddy connector.

Here is a preview of the new connector in a testbed installation. As you can see it is a stainless, low-profile main body, and it uses a brass spring-loaded center pin. In our testing all of our atomizers connected and fired with no adjustment needed. This connector is a collaboration with another well-known — or soon to be well-known — producer, and is exclusive to Protovapor.

My reaction: WANT!

Even if it sets flush we still have the four screws that still protrude above the flush top cap??

I think the new connector will sit flush to whatever it's connected to but still leave a slight gap for the screws.

I like the look of the new connector. I just got my XPV and don't want to send it back just yet. I hope they make a user replacement so we can do it ourselves...

It's a great connector! It's very similar to what I planned to design, and make, except theirs still uses part of the original top plate. Either one of my designs would have just been made from a solid square piece of stainless. I'm really happy they have made the change to this new connection. It makes the connection, just as serious as the rest of the design! So glad I ordered my XPV! :)

It would still have to be soldered regardless of how it connects to XPV or Protovapor would have to come up with a plug in unit like the new battery is.That still means all earlier devices sent out would still have to be sent in for the retro fit.

Either way I am getting the new connector when they launch the sale of it.

I'm not concerned about the electrical connection. I'm more concerned with how the connector itself mounts onto the top plate. My guess on the electrical connections is that they will be done in a similar way to (if not identical to) the fatdaddy floating connector. Such an excellent design! I really really hope the connector they are using is the same as the fat daddy design!!! on that design, the spring itself is not part of the conduction.

My KFL+ doesn't fire on it but my Russian 91% did, so I didn't lose any sleep over it... the KFL+ fires on the Provari just fine and I never bothered to try adjusting the center pin in the KFL. I had read somewhere that the center pin in the KFL could be sheared if one wasn't careful?

LOL! My XPV has the exact problem...Put in the orange o-ring under the 510 connector positive pin and the issue was solved.
