Congrats! He will love it. :)

Just a heads up for anyone that is looking for a classic or 2.5 for cheap.... Last I checked, Provari had a couple of demo units of each (might have a scratch or two) for $75 each with full warranty.

I was about to buy one but the free shipping turns into over $30US when shipping to Canada.

They don't sell an extension ring specifically for the mini, but the P3 extension ring works. It was never clear to me why Provape did not promote that with the 2.5
It wasn't listed with the kit I had to go back and look it up after you brought it up

Just to make sure it is all clear...

A P2.5 extension cap essentially is a P3 extension ring + standard P2.5 flat base.

You could, in principle, add two P3 extension rings to a P2.5 mini and get the full 18650 size tube.

Or, mini + P3 ring + standard Flat base = 18490 size (same as mini + P2.5 extension cap)

Or, mini + P3 extension ring + P2.5 extension cap = 18650 size (what you want to do to get to 18650)

I have a couple standard Provari 2.5's and a couple mini's. The mini's make more sense because a mini can grow to 18650 size but the standard cannot shrink to 18350 mini size. When you get yours you will see what configurations you like best, considering battery life issues. So I think you made a very wise choice even if you have to order the P3 ring on a future order. At the current pricing they are VERY attractive.

If you get Sparky one, at the present time you can order a 2.5 mini and for an extra $10 get the P3 connector. That eliminates the need for the beauty ring when you are using 22mm diameter toppers. I have both, and I prefer the P3 top. I think they are easier to clean, no beauty ring to keep track of and lose, and are more user repairable. You will find that on the main 2.5 sales page, not the specials page.

If you want a rock solid device that will last you years and years to come buy a Provari.
My oldest provari has been through almost 4 years of day in and day out abuse taking it to work falling over dropped on concrete you name it, but it still works.

If you want to blow big clouds or do very high watts however Provari isn't a device for that.
That's about as unbiased of an opinion as I can give, even though I absolutely love mine.

I'm not looking to blow clouds and my husband is not. We are just wanting to quit smoking! I've stopped but quit date is in January.
I didn't mean anything by the blowing clouds, alot of people just seem to get into vaping to do just that and I was just saying this device is not made for that kind of a vape. However the Provari (whatever version you get) is built like a mac truck, you will watch people over the years buy mod after mod and your Provari will still work. Also doesn't hurt that it's backed by one of the best warranties in this industry, Provape is exceptionally well known to take care of it's customers.

Congrats to both of you on quitting, best decision I ever made! :)

I know! I really haven't seen any post with"help" with provari compared to alot of other different models so for a few extra dollars might as well start him off well. I've spent just over $ 60 for my ego kit and not even 1 month in spent another $25 on a spinner twist so lesson learned for me! Plus they have a good warranty

I want to get him something that he can get a least a yr or more use from. Besides the batteries themselves.

they really start to look sweet after a few years  ... welcome to Provi Town @leftyandsparky
