I didn't notice the message I got from Kenny. I actually noticed it shortly after i posted that post today and replied. Not sure if it's the spring. My spring looks exactly like the replacement end cap that you guys have on your website...

Bimmer,

Please check your inbox ;)
we will get the issue you are having squared away.

kindly,

Ken

Ok... So Provape sent me out another one as a replacement. New one works much better. It depletes the battery much more before it shows empty. When it shows empty i'm still able to unscrew and screw back in for a few more puffs... just a few puffs and that's it so I know the battery is really close to dead. I'm happy with the unit now. Hopefully this holds up. Great customer service from the guys at Provape.

I bought a new 2.5 for my wife from them for Christmas. Fought with myself as whether to by the new 3 or not. Guess for right now, we will just have to be happy with the two 2.5's we have. LOL!!!

Will be watching for the future though!!!

KnifeMaker

And what a pleasant present you will have while waiting for the future.

Congrats on your purchase! What color and/or model did you buy her?

Just out of curiosity, how do i get my provari to blink when the battery is low?
It only flashes when my battery is empty? I have to take the battery out play around with the spring, put my battery back in and i get 30% more or so.
But why won't my button flash when my battery is getting lower?
I asked the same question a week ago or so, as the P3 is my first Provari. I had remembered reading somewhere about the blinking when the battery was low. I guess that was/is a feature of the other Provaris' and not the P3. I guess it's not really needed since our remaining battery is always visible.

I think it would still be a nice feature to have, but currently we don't.

Deffinately i agree. I think it should be brought back.
I rarely look at my battery life. Mine only flashes when it's empty! Lol and even then if play around with the spring it gives me extra battery life. There is something wrong with my spring.

Oh also found the option to hide the menu so it doesn't show up all the time when u press the button.
However as it may be good, u have to click 5 times to bring up the display to see battery life and ohms etc. Wonder if it saves some battery life.

I had this problem at first, as well. My first hit went from ?? to 85% on both batteries their first time being used (AW IMR 18650s 2200mah).

As others have said in this order:

1. Stretch the endcap spring
2. Clean the male and female extension ring's threads like a needle on a record (I used a baby bottle brush - you can get a very little one at Michael's in the baking section for under a dollar - and it comes in handy for cleaning tanks also, but you could use a toothpick or razor blade)
3. Wipe the threads of the extension rings with a paper towel dipped in rubbing alcohol
4. You can then add a small drop of No Ox to each of the threads (optional)
5. Be sure that your extension rings and endcap are screwed on tightly

My threads were definitely dirty from what I saw on the baby bottle brush (and the tooth pick until I lost my patience and grabbed the brush).

Now, after draining and charging my batteries, I get about 99% battery life after the first hit. I'm running 14 watts/4.5 volts, with a 1.5-1.6 ohm coil on a Kayfun Lite + v2. I don't use Boost (personal choice). The IQ is 88 and up.

I put in a new battery about 26 hours ago, and still have 51% battery life showing (and I honestly take 2-3 toots every 15-30 minutes - sometimes more - which I consider heavy vaping, although I'm sure that others would consider it light).

I'm beyond pleased with the battery life now. I've had other mods that only lasted 24 hours or less with the same basic setup while using a lower wattage/voltage setting.

When I pop in a newly charged VTC5 it shows 70... After using it for a while, it will drop down to 39...

This is my 5th Provari I have always used AW IMR batteries but with this P3 I am having problems. I am using the new AW IMR 18650 2200mAh batteries. About 4 hours in it will stop say the battery is empty IQ poor. take the cap off stretch the spring a little and boom I have 75% left IQ is great then in about 4 hours it will do it again I do the same and I will have 50% left IQ is great. I don't get it. What is that spring made of. I clean it on a regular basis as I do all of them but I have never had these kinds of problems. I have had it for about 2 months now. It doesn't start blinking till it stops working. I still have a V1 that I was on the waiting list to get had it converted to a V2 and it still works perfectly. I have an original KF V4 on it and when it is working right it is the best vape I have ever had but this problem is kind of annoying. I used an LG HE2 by mistake one day and it worked fine but did the same thing.

I replaced mine and it solved my problem.

Sent from my iPhone

I replaced mine and it made no difference. Just get tired of doing the cap removal and stretching the spring a little 2 or 3 times per battery. I even have a Provape 1 that I bought because I was impatient for the Provari to come out then when they did I got on the list and waited 5 weeks to get it and it had that amp limit problem which was fixed for $20 turning it into a V2. Don't get me wrong I love my P3 and with the V4 on it I have a $450 unit. But this thing with the spring is really annoying.

Have you tried what I suggested from my previous post? If not, give that whole regiment a shot.

If you continue to have problems, contact Provape's CS department, they will definitely get help you out from what I've heard (especially with you being a repeat customer).

End Cap for Stock ProVari 3
Take a look at the pic in the link...is this the bottom cap that your P3 is equipped with? If not, you need to get a hold of Provape and get that cap. If that is the cap You have, you need to open a ticket with Provape. Sounds like you have an early version, Hope this helps, and good luck getting your issue sorted out.

OK... MY PROBLEM IS BACK!!!! I had the problem... after being in contact with Provape for a while, they sent me out a spring... then before I was able to get the spring switched out, they offered to send me a new unit to replace my original one. Since I had a new one on the way i didn't bother with switching the spring out... The new unit worked beautifully for about a month then a couple days ago it started working like the first unit... i tried cleaning the threading with a toothpick and wiping with alcohol till it looked new again... Also stretched the spring multiple times... showing empty, then with unscrewing/rescrewing it would show about 50-65% battery life... when it was working good, it would drain until battery was almost dead and only show about 7% when i unscrewed/rescrewed... when it was working good, when i popped the battery in the charger when it showed empty, it would show 3.4-3.5 volts... when it was having problems, it would show 3.8-4.0 volts when i popped it back into the charger...

Contacted Provape again... they said that 3 days ago, they came out with a new spring... said that the new one is extended more and would require less extending... i asked them to send me the new spring... then, i took the spring they sent me(that i never got to replace on the first unit) and switched it out with the ring on the second unit... seems to be working fine again... the thing is... when i took the old one out and compared it to the new one, the old one that i had extended many times was already way more taller than the new one that i just put in...

So it doesn't seem to be an issue with the way the springs are "extended"... something is just wrong with the spring... i don't know what... I guess I'll just wait for their new "extended" spring and see if it makes any difference... i'll replace the one in my unit and use it for another month, then i'll update....

Here's a pic of the two springs... The new one i put in is in the endcap already... you can see the new one with the added height of the base is the same height as the one I just replaced... without the base, it's actually shorter than the replaced spring...

I really don't think it's the extension of the spring or it being compressed that's causing the problem.. not sure of what the cause is... The only thing i noticed that's physically different with the replaced spring is that the white paint on it has been scraped off at the top where the contacts are. I'm not sure what this white coating on the springs is but maybe it's the white coating that makes it work properly... and when it is scraped off due to normal use, it malfunctions... It's the only thing i can think of....
